Do you prefer a Gbit VPS with limited Bandwidth or a 100Mbit unmetered VPS?

Gbit with limited bandwidth. For fast backups and restores to/from offsite servers. And peaks. I like peaks. And the moon. http://www.rathergood.com/moon_song

    Seeking recommendation for unmetered VPS

Just a small update: I ended up by renting a dedicated server at online.net (mainly for other purposes, this model here: http://www.online.net/en/dedicated-server/dedibox-lt2k14) and it comes with quite a lot of bandwidth so it is hosting the archive too now. Works quite well, I am heavily...

Is that a normal iowait level for spinning disks?

Dear Amfy, thank you again! :) Yes, it is probably the site that you remember... ;-) Most of the content is dynamically generated by PHP. I am already using an OPCache for this and it does wonders to the performance. The static content is, as said, served by nginx. I have tried varnish once...

Is that a normal iowait level for spinning disks?

Hi Amfy, thanks a lot - I found the reason in the meantime and you are right about constant writing: It was nginx writing its access.log. As soon as I turned off logging, iowait disappeared. As said, the site is busy with many requests. I do not need access logs, so I simply keep it turned off. :)

Is that a normal iowait level for spinning disks?

Dear all, I thought I try my luck here too: I have moved a busy website from a SSD VPS (Xen) to a dedicated server with two 7.2k spinning disks in Hardware RAID-1. My munin graphs of the CPU load on the new server shows quite an amount of iowait: I ran into other limits with the VPS, but I...

Hiawatha installation script (Hiawatha, PHP-FPM, MariaDB)

What a pity! I would help out directly, but I am travelling with no access to my servers for some days. Hopefully someone else will lend a hand!

Hiawatha installation script (Hiawatha, PHP-FPM, MariaDB)

Just to confirm: It was me. I have no idea what I did wrong, but it was already quite late in my timezone and the day was hard. :) I installed it again today and everything worked fine. Thanks again!

Hiawatha installation script (Hiawatha, PHP-FPM, MariaDB)

Just got it to work, so please scratch that task for some hours... ;-) I will re-install tomorrow to see whether it was just a single hit or a mistake on my side in the first place! Thank you very much for your efforts!

Hiawatha installation script (Hiawatha, PHP-FPM, MariaDB)

It may look fine, but still .php files return a 403 when called through a browser. I did just put a simple phpinfo.php in the root folder and all I get is that 403.

Hiawatha installation script (Hiawatha, PHP-FPM, MariaDB)

Okay, I could not wait and installed it again on a fresh VM. (still Version 0.03) I ran options 1-8 consecutively, then I ran option 10. Here is the hiawatha.conf: http://pastebin.com/yvmG05NG Here is www.conf: http://pastebin.com/WDW57J6q

Hiawatha installation script (Hiawatha, PHP-FPM, MariaDB)

I have, unfortunately, already deleted the Vultr instance so I cannot provide the requested files. But I will spin up a new one tomorrow to do so. I have used the script in your link and used options 1-8 and then 10.

Hiawatha installation script (Hiawatha, PHP-FPM, MariaDB)

Found it myself: ExecuteCGI = yes was not set in etc/hiawatha/hiawatha.conf Maybe you want to fix that to avoid irritations! :)
