More router fun with DNS phishing

I helped someone who had their dns hijacked like this, it was used to prompt for a 'flash player update', which they never did. It's very clever and pretty hard to figure out. It's usually a good idea to set your own dns servers on your computer rather than relying on your router for it :)

Preventing Outbound DDOS - Infected VPS and Blocking Ports

I agree with rds here, stopping the vps will prevent more damage, and also avoids the very sketchy territory of executing commands INSIDE a client's vps

    LowEndPing

Ah, the good old multi-host looking glass. But re-done with Laravel and Python. It's simple to explain, it's a web script that lets you ping and traceroute to ip addresses and hostnames, which could be extremely useful for hosts who want to provide a multi-server looking glass from their...

    Yearly with InterNAP in Chicago

Actually the ping is 30ms, the 60ms is the total to my server community over vpn which is the main reason I got it, way better than the 80-90 on a different vpn :)

    Yearly with InterNAP in Chicago

May be too early to tell, but a 60ms connection to the servers means it's working quite well, thanks :) You should also check out https://github.com/nikkiii/status2 when I finish the RRD stuff, should be quite a bit better

Hah, that's unfortunate. A minute after I ordered (at 11:46 PM) I reloaded this page and noticed that :p

    Yearly with InterNAP in Chicago

    Looks great, I'll likely be ordering later today/early tomorrow :) PING 162.211.66.4 (162.211.66.4) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from 162.211.66.4: icmp_req=1 ttl=53 time=31.6 ms 64 bytes from 162.211.66.4: icmp_req=2 ttl=53 time=30.9 ms 64 bytes from 162.211.66.4: icmp_req=3 ttl=53...

    Yearly with InterNAP in Chicago

Something $10-$30 a year would be best. I don't expect it needing much more than 100-200GB of bandwidth per month (I'd likely be routing like 5GB per month through it, max), but it HAS to be something with a good connection to home as the main concern here is lowering latency. Edit: Someone...

    Yearly with InterNAP in Chicago

I'm looking for a (preferably cheap) yearly vps with pretty low specs (128MB ram and 5GB of space with 100-200GB of bandwidth would do just fine) to tunnel through while playing on my server community, since my ISP has been having problems recently and it's getting pretty annoying. I've looked...

Block clients from ordering with a proxy/VPN (WHMCS Hook)

You made a small mistake here (you're doubling the amount of queries to the page) $score = substr(file_get_contents($query), strpos(file_get_contents($query), "=") + 1); Also, I'd check for cURL first as it's much faster than  file_get_contents and is likely installed on anything running whmcs.

    Lua Pastebin

Heh, I love it already. Google's user interface was never really that good for my taste, Piwik is nice and clear, and the mobile app is amazing :) I'm also thinking about running this alongside the original paste.ee as a simpler solution, or even modifying it so paste.ee could also use this...

    Lua Pastebin

Laravel's paste bucket went down earlier today and I've always wanted an extremely simple paste site (even though I still run http://paste.ee), so I threw this together. It's pretty cool considering a lua website is very rare. It would take a bit of compiling to get it to work, so I suggest...

How do you upload your files to your webserver?

I usually use SFTP or FTPS. SFTP is the default if I don't need to worry about speed/cpu usage, but recently I've been having trouble with AT&T possibly limiting standard FTP connections for downloads (I only use FTP for bigger file transfers like movies), so I moved to FTPS for a couple things.

    Introduction thread

Hi! I'm Nikki. I've been around the VPS community since around 2009 when I got my first VPS at Frantech (now BuyVM). Over the years I've learned way more than I ever would have without having a single vps/linux server. I run a small gaming community called ProbablyAServer...

    Status 2

I run a gaming community, with that I have a lot of projects related to it which often involve in-game testing, players/admins still beg me to play more than just when testing =\ At least I'm not like someone I know on my list, they have over 160 hours in the past 2 weeks, mostly in Dota 2 >.>

    Status 2

This is still in a very early stage, but thanks for the suggestion. I'll see about adding it into statsend later on (My Python skills are pretty bad) if I get time. I'm planning to do more than just a general summarization, including process statuses, network info, alerts when processes go...

    Status 2

I pushed what I changed to github, mainly just RRD storage for stats, and I'm not even sure if it works, since I have never used RRD before. This commit changed: RRD files for storing stats (Stored in rrd/<server id>/(loads|memory|<hdd name after />|<interface name>).rrd), if you have a...

Quick Packet - Dual Intel Xeon L5420 - Dell CS24-SC - Dedicated Server Review

I got one of these too, except it was late March, and it was a rushed move kind of deal, with the server being setup the same day. Pretty amazing, considering it was a Saturday when I ordered/got it setup. Glad to see someone else using this like I am! I have pretty much the same configuration...
