Best way to get people to join a small community?

On one of the threads someone was asking what cloud services were and no one had an answer. You would need to be the primary driving force in answering any of these types of questions. Most importantly, as has been mentioned before, if the forum ever takes off, it will take time. This is not...

Best way to get people to join a small community?

I read some of the posts and the answer as to why everyone stopped posting is pretty obvious...the site lacks meaniful content.

Modern methods to stress test a VPS?

Those tests posted by @Nett and @rmlhhd are really designed for baremetal machines, not a VPS. I don't see what you would get out of those tests on a VM. Well, maybe a nice warning or ban might be the result!

Does your VPS provider install patches in your container in stealth?

For what it's worth: I setup a test VM with Vultr (Debian 7 x86) and noticed constant remote server connections from port 80. I proceeded to block the connections with iptables. Started having issues updating the system and it turns out that all/most of these IPs are Debian update servers...

Exim4 as an MTA on Debian 7

I wanted to get experienced member's take on using exim4 for email... Background: I run a few Debian 7x86 VPSs and use exim4 as my MTA. For the most part all is well. However, on numerous times I have either had a corrupt database or other issue. From what I understand connectivity issues could...

Working on a shell script to check for blacklisted IPs...

Guys, if anyone has a list or knows where to get a list of blacklisted IPs (RBLs) I would really appreciate the info. I'm working on a shell script to check my IPs on a regular basis and need some blacklisted ones to verify operation. If such a list is not available, a PM with a black listed...

Question about IPv6 on a VPS that also has IPv4

What I can tell you is that if IPv6 is enabled in your server to make sure that you have ip6tables enabled and properly configured. Otherwise you are wide open to attacks on IPv6.

    Adding IPv6 to VPSes

Judging by the OP's ability to disregard the "provider or client question", I can see a successful career in politics for this individual.

Things that happen or annoy you in this industry...

Of course there is, how about display the username and password on the original http SSL connection. There is no need to send an email with personal info like many providers do.

Things that happen or annoy you in this industry...

Sending clear text emails with account username and password. Yes, I am talking to 90% of the providers out there.
