    Venom Security Vulnerability

Based on their information it doesn't look like they are using shared servers like most VPS providers. Being HIPPA compliant is no joke (and something I never want to be involved in ever again) and you cannot be HIPPA compliant if you're hosting other clients on the infrastructure so an exploit...

How To: Determining how many 'VPS neighbors' you have or if you are on an oversold OpenVZ node

A new kernel was released this morning to patch this and it's released as a security fix so I'm wondering if KernelCare/Ksplice will treat it like so and providers won't even need to reboot to fix it. Now for a quick little rant that most of you probably won't agree with... Everybody here...

    Venom Security Vulnerability

In reality, how many medical facilities are buying VPSs for their infrastructure or allowing outside parties on their servers? I doubt many if any at all.

    Venom Security Vulnerability

Imagine how much sooner the exploit would have been reported to the right channels if they didn't have to figure out a fancy name and  wait for a logo to be created, website built, domain purchased, and hosting provisioned.

    Venom Security Vulnerability

Has anybody seen an update for CentOS 5 yet? Looks like CentOS 6 is taken care of but nothing for CentOS 5 in any of the mirrors I've checked.

    IP Camera Security

Any IP camera + Synology. The built in software automatically does motion detection and e-mail notification (it'll e-mail you a picture when it detects movement and their app lets you watch the camera in realtime or watch the record video). Personally, I use an RPi with my Synology NAS. :)

ODROID-W (Wearable) Dev Kit on sale at Ameridroid

I installed Android on a card for my C1 and I love it more than my RPi2 so far. Might be the true thin client I have been looking for with Microsoft's smooth RDP app, awesome video playback, and gaming capabilities. I also think I found my daughters first computer once I get a cheap monitor...

    Site doesn't work anymore

Is there an index.html file in the same directory? If so delete it.

    Pings!

Very awesome website @Munzy. I see you removed our Georgia location, you can just rename it North Carolina since the test IPs are the same (and they're mostly online now also). :)

Before updating to the latest SolusVM release...

So far only 1 node I've tested has been correct. The rest have been off by as many as 7 containers (VPS shows 7 containers less than actually on the node).

Before updating to the latest SolusVM release...

    Isn't this a better way than installing PHP? cat /proc/cgroups | grep devices | awk '{ print $3 }'

ODROID-W (Wearable) Dev Kit on sale at Ameridroid

I was ordering another ODroid C1 for my daughter and picking up some accessories and more memory cards when I noticed this Dev Kit was on sale from $79.80 to $39.95 and includes the ODroid W (normally $34.95 by itself), display, MicroSD, and USB power cable. I was tempted to buy one but I don't...

    MegaWorldHosting releases new design

FYI - Your website says 99.99% uptime guarantee for a 1GB plan or larger. Definitely confusing.

Windows 10 on Raspberry Pi 2

So who's tried it? I read that it only works if you're running Windows 10 on your computer so I haven't got to try it out. https://www.raspberrypi.org/windows-10-for-iot/

Mozilla announces the death of unencrypted HTTP

It doesn't look like they are forcing us to use HTTPS, only that newer features will not work on non-HTTPS websites. As long as they don't force HTTPS I'm fine with it.

What do you use your Raspberry Pi for?

I've finally replaced my RPi B+ running MRTG with my RPi2 running Observium and it's been great so far. I'm working on turning my RPi B+ into a self contained surveillance camera with it's own battery backup and internet connection (cheap $10 USB battery pack and free FreedomPop 4G hotspot).

    Device security while traveling?

I don't store anything on my laptops anymore. I just RDP to a remote VPS or I boot up a VMware VM from a thumb drive I keep on me.

    Post Your Mobile Data Use

This month I'm at 18.1GB, last month I used 16.5GB, two months ago I used 10.8GB, and four months ago I used 6.9GB. Looks like my usage is steadily increasing for some reason. Luckily my phone bill is only $26.13/month regardless of my usage so I don't mind. :)
