What do you use your Raspberry Pi for?

I've setup a Windows 7 KVM on our new KVM node in Denver and the RPi with rdesktop is amazingly smooth. I'm running PiBang right now because I was doing some actual work but I'm going to switch over to RPITC to see how it runs without any extras in the background.

Latency monitoring of common DCs and hosts

Yes, the problem was on our end. :)

Latency monitoring of common DCs and hosts

Anybody else getting a huge amount of traffic from them? We're seeing over 120Mbps in/out for the past few hours. Not sure why but hopefully they resolve it soon or we'll have to start blocking their IPs at the router. :(

    VPS/Semi-Dedi for video encoding

I've got a dedicated server that is being severely under utilized if that fits the requirements. http://vpsboard.com/topic/1087-looking-to-split-a-dedicated-server-2-vmware-vpss-available/

    VPS/Semi-Dedi for video encoding

Is 1TB a generous estimate or do you know you'll use all 1TB of bandwidth?

Need a router for the house.

I only use Buffalo routers because of their awesome track record and they come with a custom DD-WRT firmware by default. I'm looking to replace this though because DD-WRT doesn't play well with IPv6 and I'm making the switch to IPv6 at home.

Which OS do you use and why?

I used Windows 7 on my primary workstation (HP Mini 210) only because I've had horrible luck getting my Broadcom Crystal HD to work in Linux and I watch a lot of HD movies on it. I do dislike that I had to hack the display drivers to get 1920x1080 resolution but that's one of the reasons I'm...

vpsBoard - Community input and feedback on our infrastructure and future

Speaking of backups... not sure how these are being handled now but I'd be willing to chip in here also if needed. ;)

http://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/3825/raymii-org-got-reddited-lwn-ed-and-news-ycomb-ed-on-a-128mb-leb-with-stats ^Why not do this? Additionally, I've be happy to donate a VPS from Tampa, Denver, and Portland (DDOS Protected) for geographic diversity. While we also use CNServers like BuyVM...

Is this supposed to happen? (IP.Board question)

I noticed whenever I reply to a thread, it says it was posted by I need to refresh the screen to see the post. Is this a common thing for IP.Board? I could have sworn in the past the post appeared when I replied but I might be mistaken. I figured with all of the AJAX magic here I would thing...

Do you think this will make to the Market?

I can't think of any use for this aside from a really awesome security system but I do love seeing technology being used for something it wasn't designed for. INNOVATION!!!!

    Simplest PXE boot server solutions

While searching for the one I used I found this tutorial that's even shorter than the one I used: http://www.justnudge.com/2013/02/setting-up-a-pxe-boot-server-with-centos-and-dnsmasq/ I need to setup a PXE server in our Denver location so I'll give this tutorial a try and see how well it...

    Simplest PXE boot server solutions

I'll see if I can find the CentOS tutorial I used. It's insanely simple to setup and took me maybe 15 minutes (not including the ISO downloads). Creating the menu is the longest part but it comes with some samples to work off of.

    SSH Attacks

@Damian, my suggestion would be to add a whitelist. We have a handful of clients that have multiple VPSs with us and run scripts like MTPuTTY so the script will see them with XX connections while they really only have 2 or 3 connections per VPS. Also, I don't know if SFTP is handled the same as...

    SSH Attacks

Some providers, like IPXCore and myself, use scripts that block SSH attacks at the node level and catch them before they hit your VPS.

    SSH Attacks

@peterw, I really hope you are joking and if you are not I really hope that english is not your primary language and are just misunderstanding this thread. DOS attacks are not subject to privacy policies and an automated script that handles DOS attacks is not considered as "monitoring client...

    SSH Attacks

I found that our honeypot solution (got the idea from @Francisco, THANKS!) was a lot more accurate and the number of clients blocked by it were 0 whereas the sshcheck script we use now blocks clients who open to many SSH tabs/windows and has resulted in a couple of tickets so far. The reason we...

    SSH Attacks

I had a nice honey pot that interfaced with our routers and it worked amazingly. We switched to @Damian's script though and it works nicely but requires some monitoring and housekeeping every so often.

Best password manager? What are you using?

KeePass is my favorite and I can use it on my PC and my phone. I like the auto-type feature for entering username + password in any window or you can double click on the password field and it will stay in your clipboard for X seconds or until you paste 1 time. The 2.x version has a lot of nice...
