OVH intends to ruin the hosting industry.

While I see your point, the ideology still exists that it is often a more expensive place for hosts to locate themselves in. My largest concern with OVH is not necessarily the data center itself or even power; moreso the massive amount of bandwidth required. If their current setup is anything to...

OVH intends to ruin the hosting industry.

I'm just wondering who, especially in those locations, could meet their price range without them owning the facility. It'd be very, very difficult, especially if they intend to deploy their Kimsufi and SoYouStart brands in those locations as well. Beyond that, them building out in existing data...

OVH intends to ruin the hosting industry.

I don't see how OVH intends to reliably finance 12 new data centers, much less provide sustainable service in the Asian markets. I'm sure they'll have to either raise their prices for the Asia-Pacific region servers, reduce the included/"guaranteed" bandwidth, or both.

Scaleway out of servers and IP's

Seems to me they don't want to give them up. Cloud services are wasteful on IPv4 and they operate in a relatively low-profit area of the industry; maybe they're holding them back for sale?

    Linode Hacked

After days of DDoS attacks on their infrastructure, Linode has just posted that their management console has been compromised. Tweet: https://twitter.com/linode/status/684448030867734528 Quoted Post: "Security Notification and Linode Manager Password Reset January 5, 2016 1:53 pm...

Scaleway out of servers and IP's

Their problem has everything to do with a lack of IPs, as well as (at the time) fairly significant network congestion. They've mainly fixed the network congestion, but IPs are kinda hard to come by - as you well know.

VPS Board Is A Good Board Now

Not the kind of customers I'd want to run with - spammers, attackers, etc. Out of the 8 or so sign-ups from that promotion, 6 of them were found to be doing something illegal or immediately marked for fraud.

VPS Board Is A Good Board Now

I hope I never know what it's like to rely on a site called LowEndTalk for my business. I posted an offer there once in my life for a 512MB VM - never again.

VPS Board Is A Good Board Now

People here are significantly less dickish than people on WebHostingTalk, who are ready to crucify you the second you make a minor mistake - I know this from experience.

    Is Hostbill worth the $$$?

I find this post very nearly offensive. Especially the "any real company can easily justify the one-time fees". While it's true that a responsible hosting provider should most certainly have X amount in reserve based on their direct costs of operation, saying that a small business that otherwise...

Leaked document shows that Comcast's 300GB data cap has nothing to do with network congestion

300GB of data on a residential connection... It's not like this is a 4G connection where the usage is often spread out over multiple towers; this is usage in a single location. Comcast themselves say it's not at all due to congestion; so what's it for? They can't provide a legitimate reason...

What is the cheapest vps of windows? And do you know any trial service for 30 days?

So you need 100 Windows-based VMs for only 30 days? May I ask exactly what you intend to do with those?

    OVH Canada Offline

Partial is a relative term. All of the OVH customers I talked to at the time (50+-member Skype chats, forums, IRC) were offline (or at least very highly unstable) for the vast majority of the day.

    OVH Canada Offline

It's not like this is the first instance... a couple months ago, a car struck a telephone pole outside the DC and brought the entire network down.

    OVH Canada Offline

You'd think such a large provider, no matter how budget-oriented, would have a higher level of redundancy on primary fiber runs. I subscribe to the school of thought that a DC with over 800Gbps of capacity and hundreds of thousands of servers shouldn't be brought down by something like this...

    What's your car?

I drive a 2014 Chevy Malibu 2LT. Nothing fancy or over-the-top, but I like it well enough.

General support requests have generally been answered in the 10-30 minute range, while emergency/optimization requests were answered faster in most situations. DDoS Mitigation GRE Tunnel w/ BGP

Recognize that I'm late to the party here, but we've had a great experience with Staminus so far. Very willing to help out with optimization of everything from initial detection of attacks to the mitigation itself. Decently fast support, and the replies themselves are nothing but pleasant and...
