Unethical Ernie Quick and HudsonValleyHost Get 131K IPs Blacklisted and Try To Sell Customers A $10

I don't use any email blacklists. I like to filter/delete every single spamming '*@domain.com' one by one. It is an enjoyable workout and very relaxing, especially with all the new TLDs!

How do you upload your files to your webserver?

making it comedically easy for certain ultravoyeurist douche bags to snoop whilst being aware of them? EDIT: As an aside, I remember accidentally stumbling across a power point presentation on Docker the other month, can't seem to find it now. The author suggested avoiding SSH for connecting to...

Unethical Ernie Quick and HudsonValleyHost Get 131K IPs Blacklisted and Try To Sell Customers A $10

@DomainBop I gotta say... if you're so quick to start blowing steam out of your ears when CC pulls a stunt like this, how come nary a peep re: Barracuda's ridiculous $20 whitelisting service?

How is called this behavior sending fake company emails?

If it's only 'web forgery' or something approximating plagiarism with no discernable intent to extract money or passwords, you can always send the complainant on their merry way to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Détournement or even...

How is called this behavior sending fake company emails?

Wikipedia's definition would seem to fit the bill. If they've reached the point of sending fictitious invoices then they've already acquired all the 'personal data' they need...

How is called this behavior sending fake company emails?

I doubt it would be conceived of as 'forgery' by any professional organization unless the company's 'Mark' associated with the 'original' domain is trademarked. Then you could sick the trademark lawyers on them with accusations like 'typo squatting' or whatever. Isn't that phishing?

Unethical Ernie Quick and HudsonValleyHost Get 131K IPs Blacklisted and Try To Sell Customers A $10

Yeah, I remember buying a resold CC dedi last year (via VPS Dime) and ran into the same problem. Was not told in advance that the IPs were blacklisted. Apparently they were part of a larger blacklisted block that I had become 'caught in the crossfire' of. Emailed SpamHaus about it and no...

    Is Hostbill worth the $$$?

Could always try ISPsystem's BILLmanager. Not an endorsement as I haven't tried it myself, but it remains a curiosity.

    So you Start - Sentient?

Okay, this could go on forever. re: "a simple traceroute/MTR would tell us exactly where they were blocked", again, the excessive packet loss was worldwide... simply doing a traceroute/MTR from a single location wouldn't have accounted for everywhere else. This is obvious, so why ask for only...

    So you Start - Sentient?

I don't disagree, but 'in reality' it's also more beneficial to both parties if the host does the legwork goes beyond the scriptwork should the client not follow their script to a T, rather than stubbornly refusing to do anything at all until then (i.e. the definition of being...

OVH 1GB ddos protected VPS, Quebec

So... I rebooted the VPS and still couldn't ping it from anywhere, but could reach it through KVM console. Came back up on its own about two hours later. No config changes on my part before or after the outage. 3 hours and 11 minutes of downtime.

    So you Start - Sentient?

@DomainBop I didn't realize SyS = 100% used hardware. Are you sure? As I wrote earlier, I have some full priced servers with OVH for business use and no problems there. Didn't imagine SyS would be so different.@willie obviously it was possible for them to do their own MTR or...

OVH 1GB ddos protected VPS, Quebec

Anyone know if these offers come with an uptime SLA? Of course, my VPS went down about 1.5 hours ago (perfect timing). I found https://www.ovh.com/ca/en/dedicated-cloud/discover/sla.xml but that's about it. Quickly skimmed https://www.ovh.com/ca/en/support/termsofservice/ but there doesn't seem...

    So you Start - Sentient?

By the way, this too. You don't 'pick and choose your battles' with any support team that is actually there to help. That's absolute nonsense. If you've reached the point where you're battling with those who you're paying for support, it's only another reason to get your money back and move...

What happens when there are no more ipv4 addresses left?

Now that they've run out, the question is how many IPv4 are actually in use and how many are just dormant and going to waste in X's hoarding space?

    So you Start - Sentient?

"the script readers" I see what you're saying @Kujoe but if their 'support' (if you can even call it that without cringing) can't respond beyond the cynicism of your speculations, then it's even more reason for me to cancel. If they're only functionaries who can't improvise beyond a script, why...

    So you Start - Sentient?

To add some more perspective, I've bought hundreds of FO IP from OVH within the past year and am more or less satisfied with the quality and service. I've never had connectivity problems with any of them, not a single one, until now via SyS.
