I am running Debian on my servers and I want to have a recent version of php. What is the best way to install php?
Compile from source? Using dotdeb.org? Another option?
Look to your process list. There should be inactive processes. The Linux kernel prefers to swap out inactive pages of threads because the memory is better used as cache. Maybe someone knows the sysctl parameter?

My Lenovo ThikPad Edge does have a 16GB caching SSD which is enough to speed up the boot. I don't want to miss my 1TB drive so caching is my only use of SSD.
