Is IPMI important for a Dedi?

Making a secure remote KVM is a pain; mouse, keyboard, networking, easy... it's the damn video capturing that's the problem, capturing VGA or digital costs a lot; too bad text-mode video is not a staple in operating systems.

Heh botnets, it's been known for ages security is a racket.

    NSA can decrypt VPNs?

Well several major cert authorities are intercepted so HTTPS traffic can be spied upon with triangle spying.

    NSA can decrypt VPNs?

If you use non-standard encryption all of a sudden noone can crack you with stock tools until they find out how you're doing it. Something as simple as interlaced NOTing can throw off brute forcers.

I should get into the shell company business, I hear it's decent commission.

    Summer 2013 - 4GB No wait... 8GB?

I could do $4 per GB KVM(in volume), but $5 for 8GB, bahh, server RAM costs $9 OEM per GB, then there's the rest of the system, and the cost of the connection, and rackspace.

    Cache side-channel attack for VMs

And people say I'm paranoid when I say I want hardware level memory lock ranges for programs/guests...

Good ol' debate OpenVZ vs KVM - Why yes, why not?

I'm going to allow clients to download ISOs and system snapshots on my little panel, however I'm not going to allow uploading their own due to security... until I find a way I'm happy with. I don't know how well guarded VMs are when it comes to malformed images... if in doubt use raw, too simple...

Good ol' debate OpenVZ vs KVM - Why yes, why not?

A host I worked with had template compressed disk images for "instant" KVM installs, also had image(disk and hdd) access which let me clone/move/archive entire machines.

New York - What Interest is there?

If you want to host in New York you'll have to stand out with niche services, it's full of generics. Storage, front-ends, pond-hoppers.

    Ubuntu Edge - Ubuntu Smartphone

My desktop which runs Linux and is used for work has to have an x86 CPU due to the work software only having AMD64/i686 versions currently, also games. Also, the difference in power is extraordinary.

I use an IBM Model M from 1988., I type quite slow with it but the feedback is important... my typing style isn't for wpm, but for programming/editing.

    Best Redundancy

Keep hashes of all data and have 2 backups, each time you backup, you alternate, so if something goes poof you still have a backup. RAID != RAID is my motto. I'd rather have 3 lone drives than 2 RAID1 pairs, that's how I roll.

My ioping is better than your DD

Someone needs to make a benchmark called "clusterbomb" all it does it writes files to random directories as fast as possible, and keep track of where it's dumping crap to then read it all, then delete the crap. I could make that but then I'd go to that part of hell where bad sectors come from.

    24khost hacked?

Well it's good to hear everything is paying for itself, this means there's no risk in you, financial stability is kinda a big thing. I suggest putting up a simple site and just selling the old fashioned way in the meantime.

    Dedicated server for 3 €

Man I don't get how that's possible, the ROI would be insanely long, hardware failures would wipe any hopes for a return. The connection must be shared 20 per ded 100Mbit, otherwise the cost of connectivity alone would be quite a bit. 3 Euro a month, about $110 of hardware... 36.7 months...
