We have been testing the OnePortal Rapid platform and I would have to disagree with you. OnePortal Rapid includes bandwidth and DDoS protected IPs in their cost. Performance is excellent, by the way.

Go with Virtualizor. It seems to be the easiest for beginners to set up.

Look at BudgetVM. They have a LA data center and provide KVM on Xeon processors.

Where is your desired location? True cloud hosting providers should be able to provide this service.

You can try Limestone Networks. They have OnePortal Rapid, which is essentially what you are describing. Their IaaS cloud instances provide snapshot features and can be terminated/created/stored as volumes on-demand. Additionally, their pay per use is ideal for what you are describing.

There are plenty of good use cases for both, but dedicated server is king. Without dedicated servers, we would have no VPS servers :)

By the looks of your signature, you have settled on x3, which is a great choice. You should keep the other domain. You never know if you will need to create a separate company one day...or at the least, you could use it for a hostname.
