Taking a couple years off... College

Well done with deciding to go to college, its for the best sometimes, though from personal experience it sucked and I was "Better Off" Running my own business than some shady college work which was printed offline somewhere. :))

I can vouch for Kruno's past experience with those DC's they screwed him over majorly and to be quite honest the attacks wasn't big compared to what have been measured before. IP Board vs XenForo?

I was a fan of IPB back in the old days pre < version 2, followed it up for a few years, Vbulletin was my next preferred choice as forum software due to the extensive customization you can do it. Now Vb4/5 sucks. XenForo seems like my preffered choice and provide a much cleaner UI for users.

Which Linux distributions would you like want a template for?

I like running the bare minimum installs of the favoured distros, believe it or not most people prefer those than say centos with httpd installed etc as you can configure them to how you need.

VPS with a single SSD as storage

That's what I'm wondering. I could imagine a single disk for the whole node would cause problems with high usage. A SSD drive per VPS, I can't see anything inexpensive about that either. Please elaborate a bit more?
