Project Plugs. What are you working on?

Tweaking an 'in-house' panel for provisioning and managing dedicated servers. Power, IPMI, reboots, network/bandwidth monitoring. Works quite well, too! Need to integrate it with nocmanager tho.

    SSD Server

Are you starting a SSD KVM node? You have a habbit of just posting an offer based on a single keyword.

    New Forum Section for Hardware?

Not sure it's a good idea. Having more 'empty' forums is a bad idea in my opinion. If there were enough hardware related threads over time then a new section could be created and these threads moved in to show it has content. I dint think there's enough of that at the moment to warrant an...

    Passwords and Storage!

^ That's the problem - it would mean storing the same passwords X times, where X is the number of users of the password manager. Seems like it would be counter productive? I'm not a developer or a coder though so I'm coming from a sysadmin/user angle more than anything.

    Passwords and Storage!

Think I may have to fiddle around and make some PoC examples to see just how it works.

    Passwords and Storage!

@splitice - thanks very much for that. That's along the same kind of lines I've been looking however yours is more in-depth and detailed. Unfortunately, it has the same problem that I came up against; 1) What if an admin/authorised user forgets their password (to the password manager) and it is...

    Passwords and Storage!

That would mean storing the same passwords/credentials multiple times, once for each user?

    Passwords and Storage!

It's about having a place to store passwords for other devices/systems that can be retrieved - like a password manager.

    Passwords and Storage!

    Indeed. 100% correct.

    Passwords and Storage!

So, you've written a little application that requires a login and you authenticate against a record in a DB (in whatever fashion you have chosen). All is hunky dory. You now want to use this application to store other passwords - to have a list of usernames, passwords, ips etc for...

BUDGETGEEK TELECOMS LIMITED / 32MB Club / Random Bans

Well, the only reason people feel mislead or fearful is due to threads like this. Other individuals contacted admin, in private, to see what happened. Seeing threads like this makes it look as though bans are randomly handed out, that any view not aligned with admin/mods will see you thrown out...

BUDGETGEEK TELECOMS LIMITED / 32MB Club / Random Bans

I addressed it as did many others. We took action that was deemed necessary. I don't see complaints about other users that have been banned. The bans are permanent.

BUDGETGEEK TELECOMS LIMITED / 32MB Club / Random Bans

It may surprise some people to hear that I was the one not keen on a ban. It's also, yet again, disheartening to see we have to explain actions, to justify them. There is no reign of terror here. As for the IRC ban, that was my retarded move. Once again my script let me down and the issued...

valuevz and 32MB Club vps's from $1 per year

Well, to be blunt, it has been approved because it meets the criteria for posting an offer. I also agree that we should be protecting new members and that we need to keep a high standard for the community, however, and you knew it was coming, if we take that stance then a LOT of the content of...

Ideal Load Average for a kvm node ?

I think your math is flawed a little here. That set aside, the 'ideal' load average depends entirely on the processor, the RAM, your storage array and what the VM's are running - like I said. HalfEatenPie also explained that the load on a given processor will differ depending on the task at...

Ideal Load Average for a kvm node ?

That would depend on the CPU. And Ram. And drive storage array. And the number of VM's you have. And what they're doing. What you're asking is.. "Ok lets say i got a car, fully filled.. What would be the ideal average speed to get from A to B? I usually drive at like, 50mph" :)

    Chicago VPS scammers

Gonna have to split this off - it's supposed to be a review remember. Yes, I am just as guilty but Manndude did ask folk to stay on topic.

Coffee. What are you drinking and what would you recommend?

I had this discussion with someone on IRC recently and you are entirely, 100%, categorically wrong. Italian != best coffee.
