    Official Gameservers

Does any one else feel the need for some gaming comes the end of the week? Or perhaps every day :P I am not sure what games people play, but If we can agree on something (or a couple somethings) and it would get some use I am happy to set one up. I am a bit of a Minecraft & Garrysmod fan myself.

    Thinking about not using paypal.

Blocking TOR exit nodes is probably the best single thing you can do, atleast from my experience. But disputes of that magnitude... I'm surprised its taken this long for you to jump on it.

    Vultr KVM 512 MB (NY)

It would be nice to see some more information on the status reports (i.e what was monitored) also details like ping increases and jitter. Thanks for this review, currently considering getting a couple Vultr VMs.

    Eat, sleep, eat, sleep again

Automation & Monitoring is gold, you can never have enough of it. When combined with competent staff and upstream's you find yourself sleeping much better. Of course you always feel naked / out of control without your phone / networked device. But that's just your inner control-freak speaking.

For thoose who doesnt use control panels - mail

I pipe everything (for all my services) through an external VPS mail server running Zimbra. Never had any problems with this, being external and based off 3rd party software its quite stable / not fragile.

OpenSSL insecure and has been for two years.

FYI one of the discoverers of the bug isnt too worried about it. https://twitter.com/neelmehta/status/453625474879471616 More information: I would be suprised if any malicious exploits have been widely spread / used yet (well unless you count the NSA or similar as malicious). Thats not to say...

    Synchronised Home Directory / Workspace

Currently s3ql is looking very promising, I just need to work out what an appropriate backend would be. I am not sure about the S3 datastore and Google Cloud Storage. Personally I would prefer to use a Backupsy instance or something akin.

The Web UI port can be specified and disabled, but ports for transfers and data communication can not be.

    Synchronised Home Directory / Workspace

Some interesting suggestions so far, good work. Interesting, as far as I know SFTP put transfers the entire file which sucks a little. Very interesting, entirely user space too. Neat. We already use btsync in our infrastructure. Its not really suitable due to:  - Frequent updates arent...

    Synchronised Home Directory / Workspace

I want to create a synchronised / remote home directory setup, the idea would be to provide working space to staff members to use on remote nodes. This space would be in sync between all nodes, ideally not actually stored on the nodes themselves but on a remote server and accessed via something...

    Burst.net Continues their Implosion!

At-least they got an email.... Provider moving seems like something that alot more than 10 days notice should be given, it would be a rush to organize flights to pick up servers etc.

HOWTO: Stop NTP amplification attacks from reaching your nodes!

A late addition to the thread: iptables -A FORWARD ! -f -p udp -m multiport --ports 123 -m u32 --u32 "0>>22&0x3C@8&0xFF=42" -j DROP Will block all UDP monlist packet IN or OUT allowing you to also stop any MONLIST packets that may leak through hardware protection (of course this is not a...

    Gauging interest in new feature.

If it works well then that's great, its one of the features that makes providers like DigitalOcean so great. Just be sure to test, test, test with different configurations (I've managed to break the one at DO a few times). Certainly limit the migrations if the disk and network wear is a concern.
