Hostress, LLC has acquired GreenValueHost v2 Clients and domain.

@raindog308 - I really doubt that is anything like the deal. More than likely Colocrossing doesn't want to lose the business and it get transferred to another datacentre operator, so better to do a write off or long term installments than think someone is just going to write a cheque for that...

@souen - I don't think thats quite the spirit of the CAN-SPAM Act. You are supposed to provide a simply way to unsubcribe.

This is why using unique email addresses for each provider you sign up is critical. Even if you just use gmail's simple + tag. eg [email protected] Then you can see who is shifting your data around and take the necessary action if need be.

What is better: Renting or owning your hardware?

Owning the hardware is fine, but don't forget that you need to plan for hardware failure. So you have to factor for spares on-site (or be prepared to be down until spares are on-site) then either visit the colo facility or pay remote hands to install the replacement equipment.

    Equipment Insurance

I wouldn't say that at all, almost all decent datacentre operators require substantial insurance. I know our colocation businesses require explicit insurance with Yomura named on the policy. We've been using Aon for the past 15 years and been very happy with their coverage. As we add buildings...

Time Warner Cable Support Outsourced to Foreign Countries?

But where are those tests to and from? If it from your DSL/FTTH/cable demarc to their network? or outside? Most of these operators state that this is the maximum speed or even the 'link' speed but performance is not guaranteed. TWC will be Comcast soon and then they fun will start. TWT is...

Time Warner Cable Support Outsourced to Foreign Countries?

This maybe a new phenomena in the US, but if I phone pretty much any call centre here in the UK - my bank, British Telecom, electricity company, gas company whatever - it all ends up in India with people you need subtitles to understand. One of companies provides DSL services in the UK and we...
