    11% OFF - SGC-Hosting.com SSD KVM VPS - Rancho Cordova, Cali - Code: VPSBoardKVM1

Considering we're still occasionally receiving signups using this code -- I thought we should announce it here.  We are CLOSING shared/reseller/VPS services on April 18th!

Should hosts provide a backup service?

For our shared hosting -- we provide nightly backups.  They backup to a separate array on the local machine, which then backup to a separate server within the same DC, which then backups to a remote location.  I believe this should be expected. However, we do not provide VPS backups at this...

    WHMCS IP Blacklist Monitor

Having this added into WHMCS would be great - since I spend a lot of time logged into it already, I'll no longer need to go anywhere else for it.  All I would want is just to add IP ranges for me to check and that's it. If the source will be available, maybe I'll be able to find time to add...

    Fraud Record

Fraudrecord has become one of my most favorite WHMCS addons.  Its been a great help for VPS customers and hasn't served me yet for shared hosting.

    Do you use Bitcoin?

I think coinbase supports close to 20 countries now and you can secure the exchange rate by instantly converting to cash. I've been receiving a ton of orders using bitcoin lately with customers hosting illegal content -- I usually end up having to close their accounts within hours.

    Do you use Bitcoin?

The price of bitcoin is a concern, many payment processors will deposit the payment in USD and lock you into the exchange rate (sell something for $15 and you'll get $15).  Not a lot of people use bitcoin, but there are a lot of bitcoin users that will spend their bitcoin with a company that...

Taxed Off by Harris County Texas for 1U colocation personal server

Yep... pay it every year.  They didn't tell me about it - but then again, it's not their responsibility to disclose it.  That's their local law, not a hidden fee on their part.  It's not that much.  One year I had an assessment worth 10x the actual value, all I did was fill in a form and it was...

BitCoin in the hosting industry case study... who wants to partake?

That's only a problem if you hold the coins and end up having to sell when they're low -- many payment processors let you convert to USD immediately.  Luckily for me - the value of dogecoin has gone up to counter my losses in bitcoin!

    cpanel w/ssl hosting needed

Just an FYI - any cPanel host should be able to restore a full backup created by cPanel - this should make it fairly straight forward. It sounds like you're looking for a shared web host rather than a VPS host, correct?

    What's your car?

Never heard that term before so I had to google it.  Unfortunately, I'd have to say it is a fairly accurate stereotype - but that doesn't make it any less of a great car for the price range.

BitCoin in the hosting industry case study... who wants to partake?

Of course -- but you don't need a coinbase wallet to checkout with coinbase, nor are we required to keep our coins there.  I prefer coinbase because I receive the coins almost instantly - once they're confirmed, they're mine.  WIth bitpay, I have to wait until the end of the day for payout - and...

    Do you use Bitcoin?

We use bitpay, coinbase, and coinpayments.net.  Coinbase was our first choice, but many users e-mailed about paying without coinbase (some thought they needed a coinbase account, others just don't like coinbase), so we added bitpay - which has had a significantly higher usage rate.  We added...

Why i should not use SSD disk on openvz server?

What kind of issues did you have with the 840 Pro?  That's what we're using in our KVM nodes and they've been great so far. The only reason I see NOT to use an SSD is if you need more disk space.  However, I'd recommend using them in RAID 10 (but that's just how we run everything).

    Core i5-7 for OpenVZ virtualisation?

An i5 and i7 can have those features you listed, it just depends on the specific model you're looking at.  While both are suitable for virtualization - if you're looking for a production system or any kind of true server, you should go with a Xeon processor and ECC memory to provide a more...

Do you tell a customer your server specs if he asks?

I'll give a customer the exact specs of the server they're hosted on and I'll give a potential customer the minimum specifications of live servers.

    Server Hardware Vendor

We always shop around for parts -- most of the time we get the majority of the parts from Newegg.  We only use prebuilt/used systems for internal purposes or for my homelab.
