Accurate bandwidth accounting

Hi all,

I've been working quietly on a control panel (KVM only at the moment).  It supports the typical stuff like creation, start/stop, VNC, different storage types (LVM, QCOW, RAW), live migration between nodes etc.  The only area which is lacking is any kind of bandwidth accounting.  Can anyone offer any advice on the best way to achieve this?  I've got some ideas, but would prefer to take advice from someone that has already implemented an accounting method that they know to be accurate and works.

Most common tools use libvirt if I recall.  

Honestly I don't think there are many other good alternatives really.  @Francisco or @KuJoe (I don't know if KuJoe has added KVM support yet?) are probably the best people to ask.

Feathur as well as SolusVM utilize iptables for the bandwidth accounting.

I believe either Feathur was or is going to use http://www.pmacct.net/ but I've personally not messed with it.
