What would it cost to get a 100mbps connect instead of the gig @10tb? Also how much to add 10tb?

What if the DDoS comes from INSIDE the network, from another client?

Not unlikely since Robert Clarke is there....

Seeing as you only peer with abovenet how big is your connection to them? Do you plan on adding more peers in the future?

We don't offer less than 1Gig unfortunately. Any additional traffic is $5/TB, however we have the $199/mo special for unmetered 1Gbps.

Then you, as a customer, would raise this with us and we would handle this through our standard processes for handling network abuse (i.e. investigate and block the traffic, and possibly terminate the customer depending on the nature of the abuse).

We are planning to add TeliaSonera in the next 30-60 days, there are a few things left to negotiate in the contract before an LOA can be issued and the cable run can be executed over at Equinix.

All of our out-of-network transit is at least 100gbps, typically configured in multiple 50G LAGs to two independent edge devices which feed the traffic into the mitigation layer.  We require that this be 100gbps lossless, since we require lossless capacity in order to cleanly mitigate inbound attacks... which makes onboarding carriers difficult.  A major reason why this is difficult is because some carriers (Atrato) have sales teams which promise SLAs they cannot deliver on, so we are having to evaluate carefully which carriers are able to meet the prescribed SLAs, and then negotiate the desired pricing and SLAs into the contract.

We were planning to use Atrato, but it is fairly obvious they would not be able to fulfill the SLAs we require, since we are of course building a network designed for tanking DDoS attacks.  The other carriers we have looked at so far have expressed that they would not be able to provide the desired SLAs in the Dallas market.

I suppose we will peer with the other interesting carriers in the markets where they can deliver the desired SLAs, and then provide connectivity to those providers on our PoP to PoP backhaul wavelengths that we plan to deploy when we integrate the other PoPs into the network... much like others are doing to get the capacity SLAs they require.

The IP allocation for whole cab looks nice.
Yes, we see a lot of colocation offers where you get a whole cab, and like a /27 or /28.  We found this to be strange, as at least, in my view, the ideal purpose for a full cab these days would be to run a virtualization cluster or something similar.

So, instead of it being a hidden fee for the expanded space, we decided to just include it in the package.  You have to provide us with IP justification data to satisfy ARIN's reporting requirements, but other than that, we really will give you a /23 block with the cabinet if you can justify it.

What type of peering do you have? I guess I should add, what are easy hops after abovenet?

Abovenet is 1 AS hop away from most of the key eyeball networks in Dallas for the region... Cox, Suddenlink, AT&T and Verizon all peer with them.  nLayer/GTT has peering with them through TINET.

If you want to take a look, we operate a looking glass on a VM at http://dal.speedtest.tortois.es/ and if you want, we can set up a route-views server if you want to take a closer look at our BGP table.

We are more interested in APAC.  We will probably do EU after the world has transitioned more to IPv6.

I'd be interested in seeing the route-views server for your bgp table. Been looking for a good Dallas provider.
