Device security while traveling?

What do you all do to keep your laptops and mobile devices secure while travelling? Both from unwarranted search when/if crossing borders, through security but also in the event your device is stolen or lost.

All of my devices use full disk encryption, this includes all phones, tablets and Laptops. This is mainly to protect data from theft rather then police/boarder control searches as I have a lot of sensitive data stored on my devices such as SSH keys.

I don't store anything on my laptops anymore. I just RDP to a remote VPS or I boot up a VMware VM from a thumb drive I keep on me.

When travelling, I use an 'empty' laptop.  OS and all necessary data are on a 'livecd' microsd that never leaves my person.  Much of my work is done remotely on secured containers anyways.

I am a fan of remote setups and carrying nothing on devices.  Cause it's how the world is these years and no rights.

Everything I have, including non-mobile uses encryption.  Yeah it's tedious, but whatever.  Harder for me means way harder - in theory - for idiots.

Encrypted devices aren't of any use to anyone really from theft or seizure side.  Hell I'd leave such off when traveling also.  No USB crap tie in or other exposure dump vectors.

Full Disk Encryption, controlled by my Yubikey (one hidden as a backup, one on me). Although I might just encrypt a non OS partition in the future to improve general gaming performance (even with Hardware AES there is still a bit of an overhead).

My primary workstation is a laptop, so it has a lot of important stuff on it.

Help me out with the Yubikey + disk encryption --- you need Yubi + password right?

The second slot of my Yubikey is a static password (random 32 char). Something else is also required to complete the key as well.

Truecrypt is used to provide FDE.

This is a good topic.  Aware of a how-to type doc for Yubi + TrueCrypt?  I like so many would learn a lot from such or cliff notes you may have.

This sounds like a good solutions for so many people that need a hand up here to keep them safe from prying eyes of all sorts.

I've got a YubiKey thumb verification device for a past job, I wonder if I can re-purpose it or if I should just order a new one?
