I've honestly never really worried about the timezones all that much but in hindsight error logs would make much more sense if it was in my local time.

how to do this in bash script for specific timezone without user prompt?

echo "Australia/Adelaide" | sudo tee /etc/timezone

(/etc/timezone is where the setting is stored)

Then:

dpkg-reconfigure --frontend noninteractive tzdata
