You can redeem the keys either on Origin or Steam.

So yes, you have install either Origin or Steam.

I have both and redeemed both even though Origin activation is really dead right now due to heavy load.

I ended up following the instructions at https://help.ea.com/article/redeem-your-serial-code-in-origin#12 for activating via the web instead of via the Origin client, and that went somewhat smoothly.

Origin is spyware.
It puts in a browser plugin that monitors traffic and is needed to launch some games like BF3.


It also monitors what software is running.

My account got removed after a few hours.

I contacted EA under account disputes but they refused to respond to me.

How much do I score for being so daring (and being not so smart)?

Don't game too often on the computer however it is for a good cause so I sent $10 off to the charities. Maybe I'll get around to playing the games some day.
