LA Colo with cab access

Does anyone have space in a rack in LA where I can access the cabinet? I will need access only for upgrades and repairs every few months.

Thanks ahead of time

How much space do you need? Most likely won't happen for 1U or even 1/4 rack. There's other shared equipment there.

It would be 2u or less. It's hard to come by for less than 1/4 rack or is costly. I'd love to find someone with space in the Coresite DC that has Level3 in their blend, but that's harder to come by, especially for lower pricing.

How is escorted access though. Back when I was at a single 2U colo, I had escorted access. Or perhaps it's just a nice DC I'm with? I noticed other DC's, at least here in the UK refused me due to my age and some insurance BS even escorted.

Usually a lot of datacenters require you to carry insurance in case they drop your server on their foot....

What stops you from pulling the wrong power cable or drive? Nothing against you in particular, but I mean that's their thinking. If they let you in and you accidentally do something wrong it could be big trouble.

It's quite the norm for those under 18 to be denied access to the DC floor.

Remember that some places might require you buy an insurance policy. :)

It's extremely uncommon for a 'shared colocation' setup to allow unescorted. There's just too much fear of theft.

You have QuadraNET in LA, HE in Fremont, & AquaNX in SJC. Quadra has an all around solid rep, HE is good & cheap and i've been hearing a lot of positive feedback about AquaNX.

I mean I was tempted. I actually saw 5 servers at the top of my rack labelled End Of Reality, but they were already powered off. I was really confused, my provider trusts me a fair bit, firstly letting me in under 18 (it's a Level(3) owned place, pretty sure they require 18+) and letting me do my own stuff under shared. Now I'm out of shared colo but that was, interesting. :p

That's pretty shocking.

We've had to pickup an insurance policy for the company for our setup in Fiberhub. It wasn't costly, was just something new since coresite, nor HE, wanted one.

Interesting, I'm looking into getting 1/4 cab at Coresite and they don't require the insurance policy. However, they aren't liable for anything that may happen to me or my equipment while I am in the DC.
