OpenVPN help for newbie

Tinkering with OpenVPN today for a friend.   Prior attempts in the past have been blah, too much hassle and never quite right.

So in this test run I am going with one the VPN providers out there.  They provided a zip with certificate and various OpenVPN files for locations.

A simple start of the process for openvpn:

/etc/init.d/openvpn start

That works, but prompts for username and password every time.   How do I store these credentials so it doesn't ask and we can run this at reboots without human intervention?

Make a file with the username and password on separate lines.  E.g whatever.conf

username

password

Once done add:

auth-user-pass whatever.conf

to your .ovpn conf files.

Now to hack OpenVPN a bit for redundancy and secure things against leakage.
