Keep in mind most of the packt publishing books are poor quality, they strive for quantity not quality. You can find more information in the related slickdeals threads, reddit threads, hacker news threads.

, now when I look at my post, really does look like spam.

I don't know about quality I have bought 9 (mostly python related), and first one I read is good for what I have bought it. While I think more advanced users can learn from web tutorials, for newbies I would always suggest to get some book, even if its not the best you can learn some basics and expand your knowledge after that with searching for specific topics on the internet.
