This. People usually do start on shared Hosting as they’re on a small website and/or don’t have much traffic so they want to save money, which I can’t disagree there. But, it’s best to get VPS/Cloud Hosting as that way you have your own server and it’s not shared with others. Especially if you have your own business, that way you don’t have to worry about peoples websites being a target for DDOS so your website wouldn’t go down as well (on a shared server that is). This way you’d have much better uptime and you’d be receiving much better quality and most likely support since companies with no shared hosting might have more time to assist customers.

Just as a precision, shared hosting usually uses a shared IP address, but VPS uses dedicated IP address. Nowadays, low-end VPS and shared hosting with dedicated IP address have approximately the same price.
