Yeah, the lookingglass is running off a pretty tired vps node at 100Mbps.  If you'd like a gigabit test, send a PM and we can toss up a file for you to download from a different host.

Thanks for checking it out!

The prices are not bad, but the storage space allotted is a bit low, especially for non-ssd.  If the space was doubled for each package I would likely purchase a server. Also, are these at least SSD cached? Raid 10? Raid 6?

Cheers!

Thanks for the feedback.  We are experimenting with different setups.  Do you mind my asking what sort of projects you work on that would require a doubling of storage before you would consider purchasing?

Anyhow, to answer your direct question it is hardware RAID 1.   We will also be experimenting with SSD setups in the future with both RAID 1 and RAID 10.

Our cloud servers are SSD cached on a SAN for high availability.  For the VPS systems we are experimenting with different setups as they are local storage.  Our older Xen systems all did HDD Raid 1 and we rarely had any performance issues with those.

Thanks!

No windows?
No technical reason why it cannot be done, but as an SPLA provider it is not quite cost effective unless there were a surge in windows interest.   Contact our sales department if you would like further details, but expect the license cost for windows to be more than the VPS. :(
