Request: Verified Providers link to your site(s)

Hi folks,

This isn't really an issue for most providers on the site, but for you new ladies and gents who are marked as verified providers, could you include a link to the service(s) you are affiliated with somewhere in preferably your signature but alternately your profile, and, if possible, list in what capacity you serve (admin staff, owner/ceo, etc)?

This would make it easier for users to determine who you represent, and if they like you, they can visit your site(s). As a user, I feel I should always be able to quickly attribute a representative of a verified provider's posts to their service.

best regards,

Yes, exactly. As you said, most providers do have some sort of links, but a while ago I was noticing a lot of people marked as verified providers didn't.  For new ones, this is a good idea. I'd like it if it were part of the requirements to become a verified provider.

Well, i don't have any links (signature or other) because i am not trying to sell anything. I still work for a provider though.

Are you on here to represent the provider you work for in any way? If so, you should have their details in your sig/profile. Otherwise, you're on here for personal use and should not be a "verified provider".

I might decide to post some offer some day, but for now i prefer not to.

And if the provider is mentioned of course i represnt it. But in other topics not related to this i represent myself.

Sure, but you're still representative of somebody and your behavior and contributions should publicly reflect on your provider affiliation for good or ill. If you don't want to be associated, could you not avoid the provider mark and just post as a regular user? (serious question:) What benefit does it provide you to be unaffiliated yet verified?

I don't know if this thing can be turned off from the profile. As i said if some day i decide to post an offer - then the "verified provider" mark is good. Until then it's not really necessary. Let's see if there is a checkbox or something.

No, there isn't, because your account's member group on this forum is "Verified Provider", hence why you have a different display name colour compared to regular members. If it isn't necessary, and you do not want to post any offers or represent a provider, then you can contact an admin (MannDude, MartinD) to set you as a regular member.

WHT is running vBulletin whereas vpsBoard is running IP Board, so I don't think there is a similar feature. I don't even remember having a feature like so on vBulletin, so I guess WHT is also using a plugin/etc.

No, because it's not a "badge", it's a different user group altogether, and only admins can change what group you're in.

I agree with the others here. It's confusing if someone has a "Verified Provider" label, but doesn't include any information about which provider that is.

If you want to post without being affiliated with someone, create a personal account. If you want the "Verified Provider" label, then please include the information. From a user perspective I think this only makes sense. What point is the "Verified Provider" label if we have no idea which provider that is? What benefit does that give the users of the forum?

I think this is a good idea. If a user went to the trouble of becoming a Verified Provider they should make it clear what provider they're verified to work for.
