Time to bump this thread with the release of the new Raspberry Pi! I've got the new one sitting on my desk. Awaiting a new MicroSD from Amazon to arrive so I can tinker with it. Planning a Plex server with it.

I mean, it's a little bizarre but not anything I'd really worry all that much about. For most it won't be an issue, not all flashes do it (The flash on my Galaxy S3 is LED based) and it doesn't kill the Pi... just causes an inconvenience of having it stop/restart.

I don't have anything in that location. May be worth pining Biloh or Vial and see if they have anything to say on it. Will likely find a lot more folks on LET using that location but there will be some here too that can chime in. Have you ticketed CC about this yet?

It doesn't actually harm the Pi... just causes it to reset/reboot when powered on from what I understand. Just reboot and it'll be back to normal.

It appears to only do it when taken with an xenon flash vs that of an LED flash. Strange indeed. Someone covered that chip with blue-tac and confirmed it was the culprit as it stopped powering down afterwards:
