Black Friday and Cyber Monday isn't too far away. Who had the best deals last year?

Last year I got a good deal on a refurbished Dell e6410 laptop that I needed to replace my much older Toshiba and picked up a Seagate external drive at the same time too, I feel like I got both for about $350 or something combined from NewEgg. Was a pretty decent Black Friday or Cyber Monday...

QR Codes - Using them yourself or just another dead fad?

I've seen them around for years but I've never once felt compelled to scan one, and in fact, I wouldn't even know how to if I wanted to. I don't feel like I'm missing out.

    vpsBoard downtime announcement

There was a nasty IPB 0-day released to the wild, as such vpsBoard was taken offline as a precautionary measure. While there is no patch available yet deleting ipsconnect.php should have fixed the issue. I want to thank @Francisco for alerting me of this as it came to his attention very shortly...

What is everyone doing for IRC?

Pardon my ignorance, though I'd consider myself an IRC newb. I never used it much in the past and it wasn't until vpsBoard began that I started using it in any fashion. For me, I just use IRCCloud, a web-based IRC client that does a few things I find useful: Masks my local IP, which is...

List KVM Providers with IPv6 and a few extras

Check out AnyNode. They're a solid provider that doesn't get as much love as they should. I'm not for sure about your other requirements, but they have KVM and IPv6. @scv, what about his other needs?

    The cesspit / chat thread.

Hell yeah. Looks good. When I lived in Nevada, it was a real small town (mormon community). They did have a great diner though called "Sugars": http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g45984-d924158-Reviews-Sugar_s_Home_Plate-Overton_Nevada.html (Well, Sugar's Home Plate but locals just...

    The cesspit / chat thread.

What was the diner? There was this place, and for the life of me I can't remember it and when I went back to Vegas last year I wanted to get it again. It was a sub or hoagie place and I feel like it's located somewhere nearish the 'Pawn Stars Pawn Shop'... I remember on an episode of that...

    The cesspit / chat thread.

Aside from Cracker Barrel there aren't many decent "homestyle American food" restaurants around here, which is sad. I'd love nothing more than a big portion of meatloaf, an ear of corn on the cob, with sides of mashed potatoes, peas and a nice dinner rolls with some apple butter. There is this...

Government knows best. Seriously though, that was censored there? I know the internet is censored in some areas of the world but didn't imagine South Korea would take that approach. Today I learned.

    EIG acquires Arvixe, LLC Assets

Regardless if you think EIG is the devil or not, this is the nature of the industry. They are probably the largest holder of the shared hosting market share. Most of those companies are not ma-and-pa shops or ran by a few teens with time after school, they're big. I worked for Arvixe years ago...

Ransom IT announces Auckland, New Zealand POP for KVM VPS

That is GREAT! Good to see some unique locations and not general expansion into an already saturated area! EDIT: @wlanboy did a review of RansomIT on vpsBoard here:  and others chimed in as well. It appears to be a solid service with satisfied customers. Best of luck with your business @Oliver

The flight time is bad enough (10.5~ min) as is without weighing it down with all of that! Plus I refuse to fly over buildings or people so.... I'll terrorize the woods and open grass fields with it. Vrrooom. I did once chase after a groundhog, though.

    Local/in-house virtual servers.

Well as I was eager to tinker I just put Debian on a USB stick via UNetbootin but will check out some other recommendations later. Thanks!
