Next issue: I have canceled the vps, so no more updates on this one.

    BlueVM's domain name was hijacked

Quite simple. Activate Two-Factor-Authentification: https://www.namecheap.com/support/knowledgebase/article.aspx/9253/45/how-to-two-factor-authentication Domains / SSL certs and DNS settings should be worth the hassle.

    Travelling Security

Then don't try to fly to Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Turkey or Russia for business trips. For long travels I do have a ThinkPad X121e. Encrypted home folder and all data (copy) encrypted stored on an USB 3 stick. I like the idea that I just have to buy that cheap notebook again and dd the image back...

    Places to Get SSL Certs?

Me too. Using their Comodo Positive SSL for $4.12/yr (3 years) for my domains.

    BlueVM's domain name was hijacked

They don't care about much. Not about support and not about securing their business domain. If the bad boys had access to the Namecheap account they had access to the SSL certificates too.

    BlueVM's domain name was hijacked

A shit - worst case scenario. Wrong website is one thing, but a malicious MX record is a worst case scenario. Don't know when all DNS caches will have the correct values. So even if we see the correct webpage again ... it would still be not save to write emails to BlueVM.

    €1,99 dedicated server

That price is a bummer for all (not so good) OpenVZ providers. 2 GB of dedicated RAM and a 1.6 Ghz Via CPU. Maybe someone is doing the math about the CPU comparision. 1/300 of a Core i5 or 1/1 of a Via CPU.

    Honeypots

The traffic is always hitting your ips - you just left open one door. You should not have a lot of these doors on the same subnet because some people might think that this subnet might be a easy target and they start to look into that subnet with more care. But all the actions you can track on...

    OpenITC OpenVZ 256 MB (UK)

Nope, no need to change the node ;) Thanks, updated the section. And yes their panel is great - you can even set vps to auto expire or auto renew mode.
