ARM has legs. Real world use.

I picked up some more ARM devices :)  Things long on my shopping list and hard to find or prior too expensive. About to unbox a Dreamplug 2 Plus :) https://www.globalscaletechnologies.com/t-d2plugdetails.aspx

How visitors can trust on your hosting business?

Let them try.  I'll keep hanging the bad in the public hosting town squares.  Hopefully others step up and the industry gets to self policing and gone with the recurring bad actors who view this all as easy money.  Fact is, their lying arses could make a lot more money lying in other industries...

    Exchange rates

PayPal in fairness has some owned companies that are more about the concept of person to person payments. PayPal is going through pains right now and about 3rd level of identity crisis.  Remember it's part of Ebay and Ebay was / has spun PayPal back out.  Ebay, as a buyer, has gone to the...

CloudatCost is run by CON ARTIST, AVOID AT ALL COST!!!

Believe me, that was indeed my experience.  I would have loved for their offering to actually work better than a summerhost. Go to find out that the place is owned by an alternative telco that owns datacenters too.  Not to self to label them properly so others can avoid them entirely.  Shady...

    Exchange rates

Track and trace APIs are all the rage as of oh 5 years ago...  They drive me nuts... stuff should just be open.

CloudatCost is run by CON ARTIST, AVOID AT ALL COST!!!

I once bought one of their annuals.   It was horrendous.   Up there with ChicagoVPS and BlueVM level of bad.   Constant restarts and outages. The network was so slow that dialup seemed competitive. Near the end of that bad relationship they went on a bender turning everyones containers off...

Why do web hosts not use AMD processors in servers?

AMD is lagging on top end stuff performance of CPUs... multiple year ongoing thing. Nothing wrong with the AMD chips and hasn't been in a very very long time. Comes down to hype, prices being too like-Intel, and simple density per watt.  AMD would do good to redefine marketing and price...

Inkjet cleaning solvent question... anyone cleaned their inkjet?

Well, I am still struggling with inkjet salvage job. About 8k pages through the unit.  Won't say I feel that I've gotten my total investment / value out of it, yet. Broke down and bought a cleaning kit online.   These are a damn joke.  It's ammonia - plain cheap yellow tinged version...

    What's for Lunch?

I am with you friend.   GMO is accompanied by crop chemicals.  They go together as a pack. Crop chemicals are likely the bigger problem.  To destroy critters, they do terrible stuff.  Like destroy their digestive system.   In humans it does the same thing and sadly people are mass...

ARM has legs. Real world use.

In fussing with my Raspberry Pi's yesterday, I realized it really is an ARM computing universe now.  ARM for a desktop still is a hacker thing and performance is blah unless using embedded eMMC.  I haven't splurged for eMMC modules for gear (often cost is prohibitive relative to the cheap aspect...

Silicon Valley and the 43 Parrots of the Deep State

The Silicon Valley needs reigned in.   Look at who runs these companies, their pedigrees, what they worked on at the university and all of their ties to DARPA. I mean Google did hire the top person from DARPA a few years back, just saying.

    Raspberry Pi Zero Released

I am in a mode today monkeying with devices.  Been long on my list to clear my parts stash up - organize and get some gear back to usable state. The Pi Zero is a single core BTW. 1Ghz allegedly.  512MB on board, but you are going to eat a chunk of that for reservation by the video chip (which...

    Raspberry Pi Zero Released

I just spent 2 hours robbing my parts stashes. Got the Pi Zero tethered to a HDTV.    It's slow as it gets.   Probably the fault of the SD card I have on hand.    So searching for a better one to try. Probably ordering one online again... these cards get lost just because of their size...

    Raspberry Pi Zero Released

Also the Pi Zero lacks an LED to indicate power or any activity. It isn't until you have properly formatted and loaded SD card in the slot and it goes through the boot process that you an LED illuminated. Very short sighted and stupid approach on visual queues.  A bunch of people are going...

    Raspberry Pi Zero Released

Correct. The Zero has USB mini ports, two of them.  One is labeled on the board PWR for power - unsure if it is just for power or will function as full USB. The connectors are a PITA and a cost center for buyers.  Here's why....  The HDMI is a mini variety, so that requires a cable many of...

    Getting my First 100 Cllients,

It is a thing and has been for years... Services - software as a service - are increasingly on the decrease price wise across the board. As a startup, you'll need to align perceived value buy-in point with what you are delivering.  That can be feature limiting the low side - parsing your...

Why isn't FUSE supported natively with OVZ providers???

Does everyone know that enabling FUSE is an OpenVZ security problem / compromise vector? No, really, I read it elsewhere earlier from a provider.  Baseless of course on their end...  Shame.

    Getting my First 100 Cllients,

Software is an odd beast.  Front loaded costs with software.  After that, often minimal costs (depends how much future dev you have / do though). Biggest approach these days with software is to get people using what you have created.  Even on trial basis.  Limited trials work.  Creativity can...
