    Cannot install MySQL Server 5.5

I just reinstalled a VPS of mine (RamNode) and am trying to set up a LAMP stack. The server is running Ubuntu 12.10, so I ran apt-get install apache2 php5 php5-curl php5-mcrypt php5-mysql mysql-client mysql-server It retrieved the packages, then in "preconfiguring packages" the installer asked...

    Ideas and suggestions for vpsBoard

You mean this? I have to disagree - when I see a new member (like you), I look at their post count over time to see how much they're willing to invest in the community. If they don't make many posts, then I assume they don't intend to contribute much, and I'm not as inclined to help them out...

    Pros/cons of owning own IPs

So from what I've seen, you just peer with your datacenter, and then get all your bandwidth from them, with all their peering agreements. Is that how it works? As opposed to, say, RamNode, who have set up their own peering/bandwidth with Tinet and nLayer?

[REQUEST] How to set up a very small VPS

Sadly, many of the providers I've seen don't. So instead..?

Yeah, Mike has handled most several of my support requests. Always very helpful and courteous, and fixes the problem quickly.

    Need a small VPS

No problem. If I remembered you offered services in Dallas, I would have suggested you first. @Tux if Shardhost doesn't pan out, seriously, try these guys. Either way, good luck.

    Ideas and suggestions for vpsBoard

I don't think so. I would delete posts because they are erroneous, no longer relevant, or posted mistakenly. I suspect others would too. These are just a few legitimate reasons why post deletion should be allowed.

    Need a small VPS

Sounds good. Be aware, a lot of people dislike BudgetVM for various reasons. I've heard complaints about network, support, and I myself have had issues with their IPv6. I find the network fine (though I'm in Chicago, not Dallas), support is fairly fast (two hours or less, usually), and IPv6 is...

Due to a recent experience, I would vouch for @SeriesN and NinjaHawk :) Good stuff, great support.

    KVM, LUKS, I/O

The sad truth is, once someone has physical access to the host machine, all bets are off. With a little know-how, it's usually possible to retrieve stuff. Dedicated is a different story, encrypt that and you should be all set. But really, I wouldn't store sensitive stuff on a machine where...

Let's track the ranking of this forum...

Basically, someone hacked it and gave all members administrator privileges. That allowed people to see that certain admin users (most notably the shady "sysadmin" user) had connections to ColoCrossing. Then the site went down, then was restored from a backup. Then was hacked again, then restored...

[REQUEST] How to set up a very small VPS

As the title indicates, this is not a tutorial but a request for one. I'd like to know what the best way is to set up a really small VPS (64MB or less) to use the minimum amount of memory. Reply here, and once a good tutorial is added as a reply, I'll remove the request flag and link to the...

I'm shocked not that this forum grew, but that a whole community moved! It takes a lot to budge a bunch of people who are well-entrenched on a site (i.e. LET). With the hack and the revelation of the CC connection, though, most people up and moved.

    Need a small VPS

Whatever you say. I just know there are a lot of offers in Dallas, it shouldn't be that hard to find something there if folks really look. For instance, this package from Versatile IT in Dallas: BudgetVM also has good plans in Dallas. OP says he couldn't find much on LEB, but there are lots...

    Need a small VPS

TBH, this plan should not be too hard to find on your own. Ideally you should do a bit of research, and if you can't find the plan you're looking for you post here.

    Afterburst.com - Awesome unmetered! (New hardware & Faster Network + VPSBOARD-special!))

Oh, I'm sure your service is top-notch. My statement was meant to be a reflection of my mental processes upon seeing this offer. First I see $10/mo for 384MB RAM, which seems high. But then I notice the network, and it makes more sense. I'm sure your support is excellent too, and I do like a...

Cloud KVM from UNCLE SAL - Any one tried yet ?

Nothing personal (necessarily), but this comes off more as an advert than as a "what do you think?" There are a lot of these plans around these days.
