    What providers do you use?

BudgetVM has great prices and I like them for that (my main box with my regular public-facing websites is with them), but I don't like the "corporate" feel they exude. Also, both VPSes I have ordered from them have had IPv6 troubles to start. Worked out eventually, but they really need to figure...

    Domain transfer times

Might have been my fault on the previous slow transfers. I accepted the request from the receiving registrar, but didn't give the OK from the "losing" registrar. I just did two more transfers from Godaddy to Namecheap, approving at both registrars on the two transfers, and it took just a few...

Looking for a VPS that allows me to take snapshots easily

DigitalOcean, of course. Take a snapshot, restore any time.

    Untapped locations?

That's the problem with any "untapped location". People go where bandwidth, power, network access, hardware, etc. is cheap. Personally, living in the U.S., I have ready (a.k.a. low latency) access to the highly tapped locations. While other locations would be nice, for one reason or the other...

    Introduction thread

"Projects I've been working on for a long time that have never gotten that far" - story of my life, man. Forum idea is good, though. I have finished a few projects here and there, and I'm in the middle of one that I've got high hopes for right now.

    Domain transfer times

Strange. Have you ever done a GoDaddy to Namecheap transfer? If short transfer times are normal, I'm not complaining, I just wish they'd worked that way for all the transfers I've done.

Just got a free VPS (kinda)

Of course then there's the free VPSes from ChunkHost, but they haven't set one up for me yet. At capacity, so they say.

    Domain transfer times

I just transferred a domain of mine from GoDaddy (99 cent domains are 99 cent domains, I don't care about how evil GoDaddy is) to Dyn.com. I expected it would take a few days, as I've done two transfers in the past (both GoDaddy to Namecheap), and they took that long. This one was done in under...

Just got a free VPS (kinda)

A little while back, IPXCore was getting ready to deploy KVM services alongside their OpenVZ ones. For a $2 one-time fee, I got a 512MB KVM for about a month and a half to try it out. As a "thank you" afterwards they gave everyone who tried it a 45% off coupon, and the $2 paid would be available...

    Changing Operating Systems through SSH

I only have one KVM, too expensive. This does seem like an interesting thing to try on it, though, since I expect I won't be using it much. (I had a legitimate use for it when I got it, honest!)

What are you listening to right now?

I am listening to the white noise created by a laptop fan and the fan of the cooling stand it's on. I can't wait to get a new laptop. Also the keys on this keyboard - they're pretty loud.

[UPDATED] Rules for posting VPS Offers

Also, what about a forum for RFPs or RFQs by users? And what about users with individual VPSes they want to sell off?

    Introduction thread

So sorry to break up this interesting ( <- not sarcastic, actually is interesting) discussion, but I thought I'd pop in to say hello. I'm D. Strout from LET (if you find my first name posted somewhere, do let me know so I can remove it). I'm not on WHT because I prefer smaller communities, which...

    What providers do you use?

List: BudgetVM BuyVM ComfortHost * DigitalOcean (on and off, I don't think I have any online there now) Front Range Hosting IPXCore (x2) PremiumVM RamNode (x3) Reliable Hosting Services (x2) ServerDragon ServerHub StormVZ (technically Iniz, but I don't like that name)...
