IPv4 Shortage, Blame Idiots like ColoCrossing.

Hey it is what it is.  Is it evil (IP hoarding and fraud allocation)?  Well, not per se.  Does it violate rules and create shortages, yes.  Should people be kicked in the nut sack for stunts like this, surely.  Full IP audit and revocation and future severe limit to allocation.  Time for ARIN to...

    SecureDragon to discontinue VPN service.

I missed the SD discounting of VPS accounts.  Do you have a link to such offer? I noticed Chicago + Los Angeles in server locations.  Did Joe jump on board with CC at those locations? Looks like Colo@ at those locations.

Poor man's load balancing / geo-based forwarding - Need some hints.

iwStack has free Rage4 as long as you have active account/funds on hand there.   It makes the deposit of funds for iwStack more palatable *if* you use such function and drive traffic via DNS that you are already paying for directly.

IPv4 Shortage, Blame Idiots like ColoCrossing.

IP shortage doesn't impact me?  GTFO.  It impacts everyone.   Drives up prices and has created artificial scarcity.   In some places you really have an expensive to impossible chore of getting IPs, even if you have your own ASN (i.e. Europe).     So it drives up server operating costs and...

    SecureDragon to discontinue VPN service.

SecureDragon wasn't a deeply discounted VPN was it? Looks like a pricey service: Seems like a semi big deal since their CakeVPN site boasts ---> We're in 9 data centers around the world! Security issues / PITA usage or financial?

IPv4 Shortage, Blame Idiots like ColoCrossing.

Next time you bitch and moan about IP limits from datacenters or complain about the cost increase for IPs, just think of my friends in Buffalo. Sometime in the past year I started paying attention to HE's BGP site.  On there is IPs Originated (v4). Back then CC was at oh a bit over 100,000 IPs...

Iran, you better run - .ir hosting in US ILLEGAL PART 2 - embargo breakers

Yeppers, looks like the resident Iranians are playing musical chairs over at ColoCrossing. One group of them appears to have a new Delaware incorporation to hide behind.  Good luck with that since Delaware doesn't protect like that/shield.

Poor man's load balancing / geo-based forwarding - Need some hints.

Well, depending on the number of lookups a month, you can do this with Rage4's geo-location DNS. If you are an iwStack customer they offer Rage4 as a freebie benefit of being a customer and that has higher limits/none really. Obviously, you can go the DNS route yourself and figure out how to...

I am sympathetic, truly. If not wanting to move things outside of Vegas network, then perhaps redundancy for it over in Jersey? When these issues happen, regardless of cause, the panel goes offline, the website,  and other reference resources people go to check (those of us who haven't...

So how doesn't something like this happen in other datacenters? I'll raise my hand again for recommending BuyVM at least moves their website + other critical operations stuff outside of the Vegas facility.

Yes sir, their site is down.   They are debugging the issue with their provider for the filtering.

Some debugging showed OpenDNS was still showing old DNS provider and pushing queries there. Yeah, DNS provider changed with the outage this morning as well.     So the records with the old provider - Rage4 have been updated too.

Raymii.org on Frontpage of Hackernews again, +30000 visitors :)

Congrats on the coverage of such a silly little thing :) Digital Ocean is pretty good.   Not low end pricing but not Linode pricing either.  Mid tier perhaps, leaning towards the lower pricing. Quite happy with DO myself.   Great disk speed, nice control panel, fast support.
