Are the days gone that it's hard to get a buyvm box?

Limited testing out of Buffalo seemed alright to Europe.  I care about UK and that was oh, 80+ ms.  I expect experiences will differ based on your European endpoint endstreams though.  Buffalo traffic lately loves using transit that isn't the best. Buffalow network isn't per se bad, just...

    Down to 4 VPS

I have been sitting on the sidelines lately with purchases.  Summer time gets busy with outdoors, plants and animals.   I too have been reducing my VPS accounts.  Too many idle resources that  paying for makes little sense--- none of them were bargains or specials that can't be bought again...

Using varnish as a http cache

Varnish works well when you get your config in order.  Now running Varnish on a 64MB box is kind of silly.  Can you do it?  Sure, but why not cache on the bottom layers and get the caching right on Nginx as your web server (if you can)?  The daemon itself has some RAM + CPU overhead, no...

Reserving Disk Space you Purchased from the Oversold VPS providers

Looking at the CVPS data, two servers in Atlanta that were oversold at 9-10:1.   Assumption there is we are dealing with 32GB RAM servers like they historically have used and not 128GB RAM servers like Chris said somewhere on here.

Using varnish as a http cache

Same can be said about Nginx :)  You could/can get Nginx up in front of Apache pretty easily and drop overhead/waste.   I do the same thing with Nginx :) All that said, both Nginx and Varnish are capable.  You can front end anything with anything in this mix (Varnish, Nginx, Apache, etc.)...
