    ARIN proposes new fees

There's more than a few schools that assign a dedicated IP, with full RDNS, for each student. I can see that as a useful way of nailing down abuse and such but yeah. Honestly, how many schools have more than a /12 of IP space? Francisco

    ARIN proposes new fees

I only skimmed so I didn't read about ASN's. As of right now ASN's don't get charged if you have IPV4/IPV6 resources as well. Francisco

Not this time ;) I'm mentally burned out from all the LV work we just did as well as all the coding I'm currently doing. Francisco

    ARIN proposes new fees

It's a proposal for now. They're collecting feedback for the next 60 days before they do anything. I'm sure the big wigs will contest the bump against them, but considering they have only a handful of ISP's that fall under it, they'll hopefully do right by everyone else. Francisco

No ploop support in the kernel, or kernel is way too old. - CentOS 5.11

We used to run it some but we had a lot of softlocks. In the end we weren't sure if the softlocks were because of vswap being completely broken or if it was conflicts with .18, glibc, etc. Francisco

    ARIN proposes new fees

This is all just a proposal for now! ARIN is collecting feedback for 60 days before they do anything ARIN put out a proposal for new fees. Most of the proposals don't affect any of us since a lot of them are aimed at the 'extremely large customers' that have /12's and larger. I've attached one...

BuyVM announces Europe, Anycast IP's, Floating IP's, & Bandwidth pooling!

Ahaha :) They're just bent a bit, a bit of bending or maybe even a prybar will get them straightened out. Honestly I expected things to be a lot more banged up than some minor smacks on the handles. Given how some of the domestic shipments I've seen, I expected to hear that the SSD's were...

No ploop support in the kernel, or kernel is way too old. - CentOS 5.11

It is. It's not super pretty as you get some sysfs quirks, but for the most part it works. The OP loses out on the improvements ext4 brings on, but being stuck on 2.6.18 suuuucks. Francisco

Gear made it to the DC all in one piece :) Minor handle bends so next time I send gear I'll take those off. Francisco

ARIN Stock Changes Feb 2014 - Down to 1.38

Buy a company that doesn't have ARIN's and has a justifible use for a /16. Even if you have a very fast burn rate ARIN is going to make you stick to the 'one size bigger' policy. If you haven't requested a block in the past like 6 months or so they actually reset you back down to a /22. That...

BuyVM announces Europe, Anycast IP's, Floating IP's, & Bandwidth pooling!

    - 1 x router - 1 x internal node (DHCP, etc) - 1 x standard KVM - 3 x SSD based OVZ's - 2 x 128MB OVZ - 1 x BuyShared node - 1 x storage node It's a good amount, we were able to pack things really tight. We spent a good 6 hours getting it all together and wasting the least amount of room...

BuyVM announces Europe, Anycast IP's, Floating IP's, & Bandwidth pooling!

Roughly $1200. We're still waiting on the final price since we billed it to a corporate fedex account and we won't know until it's delivered. Given the deals I get in the states it was still worth it for us to pay that than build in Europe. Francisco

ARIN Stock Changes Feb 2014 - Down to 1.38

Been a while since this has been bumped but it seems ARIN is assigning, on average, a /16 to a /15 almost every business day. I see more days with /16's being assign than not. Total pool is at 0.59 and figure it'll be < 0.50 by the end of the month. Francisco

I wondering if EIG will pick up any VPS brands? So far it seems to be mostly shared.
