BlueVM and the great labor rights of exploiting labor

I don't think he's knocking you on that, but I think we can both agree on what he's saying. When you're only making $100/month profit per node (many aren't doing that), you're talking about having to have a lot of nodes to have some bank roll, cover some sort of wages, & cover yourself. It's...

ColoCrossing, Quick to Get Large IP Blocks Issued and Faster to Soil Them

For what it's worth spamhaus doesn't just ban a huge range like that on a hunch. They ban it because they either have an informant or because they have enough proof to justify it (be it actual spam or obvious RDNS patterns). CC has a bad policy when it comes to spammers and SWIP entries...

What's the difference between DigitalOcean and other VPS companies?

That's how they market. They have ads and such that run but the majority is in credits. As I said, lets see when their coupons next come up. It may come up any day now and rinse/repeat. As Mao says, and many others, though, there is countless users that don't pay a dime to them and just...

What's the difference between DigitalOcean and other VPS companies?

A few million dollars in venture money and marketing capital? The big thing is that they threw free money at a lot of people in hopes of turning them into long term consumers. In reality, I wouldn't doubt there is users that have never paid an actual invoice and just migrate their data between...

HOWTO: Stop NTP amplification attacks from reaching your nodes!

if brctl --help | grep -q "addbr"; thenbrctl can be installed and will answer even if no bridge exists. You'd be better off checking if /proc/sys/net/bridge-nf-call-iptables exists or not. If it does, a bridge is active. Francisco

OH MAN HOTLINE. The true origins of 'Delta Anime'. No, I don't know of any alternatives. When the main company went tits up I swapped to KDX but soon after that went onwards to build DAIRC. Francisco

HOWTO: Stop NTP amplification attacks from reaching your nodes!

As I can but WHT doesn't seem to give much of a crap about it. I have a lot of other projects going on right now so I can't really pump tons of time into awareness on this. Maybe I should try to get the cloudflare guy to retweet this link and or write a small blurb about it? I'll tweet him...

HOWTO: Stop NTP amplification attacks from reaching your nodes!

you could just check the output of brctl list and see if they have a bridge or not? If they don't have a bridge (openvz) then the entry won't 'do' anything wrong, it won't even load since the sysctl params won't exist. Francisco
