    [123Systems Announcement] Server Upgrade

I wonder if Andrew is still part of the company? He almost always, if not always, adds his name to his emails. I would have missed the IP renumber comment if you didn't point it out for sure. Francisco

Shardhost Info - Urgent Client Action

The 520's are still good drives. I was planning to use them for our SSD upgrades if they still made the bigger models. I just don't know of many other DC's offering the 520's besides CC. Everyone else seems to be enjoying samsungs and things like that. Francisco

OK so after some hunting it adds up. - Shardhost started offers in March, initially out of coreexchange - By June they were moved into ColoCrossing Dallas supposedly using the same equipment - Total of 3 offers were put on WHT, each around the time that an LE offer went up It's unknown if...

It's always possible. Leaseweb did this twice but then again, leaseweb is on a completely different scale than CC or 99% of the providers in this market. LW turning those people up likely cost them only a little bit on power, where as Jon has to deal with the possibility that it'll spike his 95%...

Shardhost Info - Urgent Client Action

After a quick email to Mr. Lawrence, it seems that they didn't own the equipment they were hosting on. I asked him if there was equipment spare that could be liquidated to pay for refunds but he sent back a simple reply of "No significant assets.". If they had 20+ some odd hardware nodes, even...

It's not often I see "Go fuck yourself" in legal jabber, but here's what was shoved onto WHT:

Providers - Let's talk about panels.

The biggest problem with billing is some places have VAT, some don't. Some have other local taxes, etc, so that all has to be taken into consideration. You have to support fraud systems and easily able to add new ones. You need the countless gateways and all of their silly validation/callback...

    CPU Fair Use

It's rare. I've been looking into adding more tracking for this in Stallion to help users with it. The problem is people really want things at the :05 or :20 marks for munin :) Francisco

    CPU Fair Use

Munin is the devil for that. We had quite a few issues with our older 128MB nodes because a ton of users would have munin's all firing at once. We tracked the loads and the node would be 1 - 2 loads... spike to 10+ for 30 seconds then fall >_> Drove me mad. Francisco

    Quiting smoking.

Get an e-cig. Aldryic got one while on the drive and he was entertained for 2 solid days with it. You can get the refillable ones and you'l spend like $150 - $200/y total, depending on how much you smoke. Francisco

Good christ. Well, Jon claims he knew nothing of this shutdown and I'm kinda believing that. Shardhost has already ripped their entire twitter down and ran for the hills. Maybe the data breach costs were huge? Francisco

Shardhost Info - Urgent Client Action

The problem hostrail had was they charged pennies per VPS and would give away a lot of VM's just because. When they closed they had something like $20k in debt owed to limestone networks. When clubdowntime went bust the rumour was that they owed $40k+ between them and brohoster. Francisco

It's likely the $10/y KVM's were just to get some float and then things went bust. It's unlikely they had any assets, meaning they were renting most everything. TL;DR - Join the pony, enjoy the free SSD upgrades :) Francisco

BuyVM ColoCrossing Bye Bye Hello Choopa Move Today!

The Denny's did. We got outside and there was a half dozen people gathered around a car with the speakers really loud smoking weed. Francisco

BuyVM ColoCrossing Bye Bye Hello Choopa Move Today!

We own doesbuyvmhavestock. We'll likely close it down in the coming weeks, though. It doesn't get updated as much as it should :) The BuyVM site will get replaced soon too. Francisco

ProvisionHost Sold, New Owners Won't Honor Paid For $48 Annual Plans

If they aren't honouring the $48/year's, I can't see them honouring the $13/y's either. If they couldn't get approved for subnets (if that was their initial goal with the $48/year offer) then they're kinda hooped. Francisco
