BuyVM announces free SSD upgrades on all 256MB+ OpenVZ plans!

This trip was....OK. I got screwed out of quite a few days of SSD migrations due to confusing DD results we were seeing. In the end we found out that DD is CPU bound at the ~1GB/sec mark when using a 2Ghz or so core. If we had E3's in our OVZ nodes we'd have seen the 1.4 - 1.8GB/sec I was...

Feathur Launch (VPS Control Panel => 0.6.0.1 => Free For Private Use)

Going deep for sure >_> Honestly, for what it's worth, Solus does the exact same shit *all* over their code. Anyone who has had a chance should get a decompiled copy of the *create* pages in Solus. It's the EXACT same thing. They have 8+ depth if statements to push errors/template data to the...

    "Hack Forums" Hosts

It's a tough comment. The fact of the matter is that the majority of hackforums hosts that get to LEB die within the first year. There's only 1 host i'm aware of that was born out of there and is still around to this day. I'll leave his name out of it since he has worked hard to get away from...

    24khost, where are you?

Maybe they got bought out or they moved it 'to the cloud'? Francisco

    OpenVZ IO Limits!

If it really is pure SSD then 50MB/sec should be more than enough for each user. It's always possible that it's SSD cached, or, simply bullshit :) Francisco

    OpenVZ vps disk encryption

Not really. It does on the fly growing but you take a performance hit while it grows. I wanted to use ploop for its snapshot support but it's ehhhh... Is there no encryption via FUSE you can do? Or is there tons of overhead? Francisco

    OpenVZ IO Limits!

The I/O priority settings are garbage since they require CFQ. CFQ is such a terrible scheduler to use on a node. Francisco

Hardcloud launching their "Premium Virtual Private Servers"

That makes a lot of sense. The new guy likes to shove his sig/company name on every post so it always came off a little odd to me. The original owner was a funny guy with many of his comments, though. Francisco

Hardcloud launching their "Premium Virtual Private Servers"

So is he still involved or no? I saw he 'sold' but we've seen the same owners stick around and just change names. Francisco

WHMCS - finally a positive move

Christ don't give them any ideas about rewriting WHMCS into PERL. Francisco

WHMCS - finally a positive move

You'd think that being part of cpanel they would have a preferred team. Honest question, when was the last time cPanel had a 0 day exploit? I've seen some XSS stuff but nothing granting root in ages. Francisco

URPad closing locations, merging into 3 central non-rental datacenter --- DUMPS COLOCROSSING!

Probably why. I imagine all of their manpower went to closing out their biggest monthly contracts :) I'm sure EU will migrate in the coming weeks or whenever the contract comes up for renewal. Francisco

URPad closing locations, merging into 3 central non-rental datacenter --- DUMPS COLOCROSSING!

Is it inside CC? Or one of their quadra/etc nodes? Francisco

    Versaweb - New Xeon E5-1620 + 32GB RAM $99! Dual 6C Xeon + 48GB RAM $79! DoS Protect! 1Gbps Server D

The E5-1620's are a beastly CPU. When we did NY we considered using those but opt'd for a dual box. Killer offerings as always! Francisco

    PremiumVM Up for Sale.

I don't know. It's quite possible that the power companies charge that much because they know it's so close to NY. I know when we were looking on the east coast, we had EGI give us a quote. Scott said that the rack alone would be $2000/month or something insane like that, not counting transit...

DDoS is a funny joke to ColoCrossing

What matters is if it comes up while you're in "incogneto" mode or logged out of google. It's quite possible it's picking up the wiki article and a mention of DDOS and forming results from it. No need to get your boxers in a bunch over it. Francisco
