    Learn Node.js for €100! (~5 hours of one-on-one tutoring)

I've been doing Node.js code review and tutoring for a while now, and I figured I'd try my hand at running a promo.   So, for the coming week, I'm offering five hours of Node.js tutoring for only €100 (about $113 at current exchange rates).   That's €20 per hour, a 20%-60% discount over my...

Netherlands Based VPS Hosting Plans from Temok.com Starting at $21.95/month | Powered by XEN

Your offers says a single IPv6 address. That's not an end-user allocation. That's nonsense. Nearly every VPS provider offers a panel that lets you do it automatically, without even needing provider intervention, and without charge. The only provider I know of who doesn't (or at least didn't) do...

Netherlands Based VPS Hosting Plans from Temok.com Starting at $21.95/month | Powered by XEN

First of all, what datacenter? Further... You should be providing an end-user allocation, not a single IPv6. ... what? These are VPSes. Those are hardly 'features' - they're pretty much the bare minimum requirement for a VPS service. Not to mention that "lifetime hardware guarantee" makes no...

    LastPass Security Notice

Comparing to the wrong thing. It's not practical to copy sufficiently strong passwords from a piece of paper every time you need to log in somewhere, so you're likely to start using weaker passwords. The problem here is with LastPass being a hosted third-party password tool. KeePass/KeePassX...

★ OpenVZ SSD VPS ★ Canada and Arizona ★ 30% off First Month ★ 1GB for under $7.00 AUD

Thanks :) Would recommend stating Beauharnois rather than Montreal, though - Beauharnois is in the Greater Montreal area, which isn't exactly the same as Montreal itself.

Which doesn't necessarily solve the problem of people getting scammed on WHT.

WebHostingTalk Worst of the Hosting Industry

Then perhaps it should start representing itself as such. I'm a little tired of these "it's a business, nothing wrong with that" type of arguments, frankly. Something being a business or not has absolutely no relevance whatsoever when the discussion is about the ethics of certain behaviour...

    Barracuda

Yeah, I get that. But why should this be a requirement? They should be handling removal requests promptly, regardless of communication method used.

    ZionVPS - Pure SSD, Anti-DDoS, KVM/OVZ, 1GB/S, unmetered traffic, bitcoins accepted, CA/FR/US

OVH isn't exactly in "Montreal" - they're in Beauharnois, which is technically in the "greater Montreal area", a much larger area than "Montreal". And are you sure you're in Paris? As far as I know, no servers have been provisioned there for a long time - it's all Roubaix, Gravelines, and...

Confused. Why would one be required or expected to use a phone?

    Wable Terms of Service

Surely there should at least remain a reference in the original thread? Seeing as these unusual terms are 1) quite likely to be relevant to users and 2) most users don't tend to read ToS. In the US. Contracts don't work that way in most other countries.

    Wable Terms of Service

Sure. Can be ruled ex parte and collected internationally. Whether it's worth the money is a different question, but that doesn't change anything about the legality of it - which is the topic I was talking about to begin with.

Can someone give me the lowdown and TLDR version of 'CVPS' & LowEndTalk

They are unusually aggressively working on obtaining more and more IPv4 space. There are (plausible) allegations of them trying to sell as much as possible at bottom-of-the-barrel prices, and with plentiful distribution of cheap IPs, just to obtain more IPv4 space (as they need justification to...

    Wable Terms of Service

I don't think you understand how international law works. Contrary to what you seem to think, the US doesn't (legally) rule the world. If a US company does business in another country (and this does not necessarily require a physical presence), then they will typically have to abide by the laws...

Can someone give me the lowdown and TLDR version of 'CVPS' & LowEndTalk

They are selling services for unrealistic prices, and pretty much single-handedly kickstarted the "race to the bottom" of offering heavily-oversold 2GB-for-$7 plans. They are part of ColoCrossing, and both have a history of shady practices; they are dishonest at every turn, constantly try to...
