    So, lets talk Trans-Pacific Partnership

Burn it. Burn it all. That's really all I have to say about it. I'll leave the exact meaning and interpretation of "it" as an exercise for the reader.

Gay marriage (finally) legalized in the US

I think the problem here, is that we're trying to discuss a multitude of separate issues with separate rationale, as if it's a single issue. Dividing them up yields these arguments from my side: Same-sex relationships (incl. sex): None of anybody's business. This should be respected, it's a...

Gay marriage (finally) legalized in the US

There's a big problem with this idea, and that is that you don't choose the state (or country) where you are born and grow up. For the first two decades of your life, you're likely going to be completely unable to do anything about living in a state or country that doesn't tolerate you - either...

    Physical spam mail.

We have a similar thing in NL, but more 'official'. Basically, you stick these stickers on your mailbox: The first one means "no advertising materials, no door-to-door-delivered newspapers". The second only says "no advertising materials". I believe there's a legal requirement to honour these...

Mr. Robot - New TV Show from the TV Channel USA

Mr. Robot got renewed for a second season before it even officially premiered.

BlueVM sold / change of ownership? (UPDATE 5/14: Now owned by ChicagoVPS)

I'd recommend writing out ChicagoVPS or abbreviating it as CVPS - CHVPS is a different company :)

Netherlands Based VPS Hosting Plans from Temok.com Starting at $21.95/month | Powered by XEN

Nah, not necessarily. It states 'fully managed' in the offer (though the asterisk seems to have gotten lost along the way), and it doesn't seem like an unreasonable price for that, if they really do deliver on it. Somewhat on the cheaper end, even.

    Future of Shared Web Hosting?

I don't really get the arguments being raised here. It's easier: this isn't necessarily the case. There's no reason a VPS service could not be delivered at a similar level of automated management, it just hasn't happened yet (within this price range). There's more features: same thing. It just...

    Buying and selling BitCoin

Bitonic, but it only works in the Netherlands and Belgium. It's great, though - buying BTC is basically instant, payout for selling BTC happens every weekday. It's certainly a lot nicer (and faster!) than PayPal <-> bank :)

ICANN Proposes Changes to WHOIS Privacy

You'll just end up with the same problem as Creative Commons has run into with the NC license - how do you define "non-commercial"? It's harder to define accurately than it seems at first.

Hostress, LLC has acquired GreenValueHost v2 Clients and domain.

This is very easy to avoid: practice full transparency. As long as you keep hiding or twisting information, people will keep assuming the worst. This is all of your own making. And the same applies for the rest of the ColoCrossing gang, who have made the exact same mistakes. Don't evade...

Hostress, LLC has acquired GreenValueHost v2 Clients and domain.

And I already pointed out that that is a lie. I've stayed mostly quiet on this matter, to give you a chance to fix things, because I don't like jumping to conclusions. But when you start making claims that obviously contradict other 'official' information and fail to disclose why there is a...

Hostress, LLC has acquired GreenValueHost v2 Clients and domain.

So, TacVPS went out of business. Then XFuse purchased 'the brand' and 'relaunched' it as a subsidiary. Then XFuse acquired GVH v1(?), and put it under the TacVPS brand. Then Hostress acquired GVH v2. Then Hostress acquired the TacVPS brand, presumably including the GVH v1 customers(?), from...

    Learn Node.js for €100! (~5 hours of one-on-one tutoring)

I'd rather not. These "cloud IDEs" are a terrible idea when writing actual software, so it's not really a good idea to teach with them either. I'd rather teach people to use the right tools off the bat.

    Learn Node.js for €100! (~5 hours of one-on-one tutoring)

I don't use Skype, at all - not only is it proprietary, it also constantly locks up on Linux, without showing it in any way, so it could have been disconnected for days before you notice. It's basically unusable... and hasn't been fixed for over a year. I generally use IRC or XMPP for this (the...

    Learn Node.js for €100! (~5 hours of one-on-one tutoring)

Just wanting to clarify, as this seems to have confused some, and I can't edit my post: You don't need to have experience with programming, this is for both beginners and more experienced developers! As long as you understand the basics of HTML and JS syntax, you should be fine.

Hostress, LLC has acquired GreenValueHost v2 Clients and domain.

Seconding this. Making yourself appear larger and more 'corporate' is just another form of dishonesty, and not a laudable goal to shoot for, as far as I'm concerned. Just be honest, in the broadest sense of the word.

    Let's Encrypt Launch Schedule Announced

For something that should never have cost any money to begin with (basic SSL certs), it's not unreasonable to complain about (seemingly artificial) limitations in a free certificate.
