Colocrossing Buffalo now offering 100Gbps DDoS Protection

Dammitfran? Anyway, I don't think CC has anyone skillful enough on staff to build their own platform and instead are going to use a RIOREY or something like that. Supposedly a fine unit, minus the fact the PPS is only 32M on their "Take out a mortgage" model. We all know if GVH actually puts...

What's your favorite christmas movie and why is it "A Christmas Story" ?

So what's your usual traditions when it comes to Christmas movies? I'm always a big fan of National Lampoons. This year I've had my copy of Christmas Story playing on repeat on the TV non stop :P Fran

ARIN Stock Changes Feb 2014 - Down to 1.38

That should put them in the ~0.36 range I think? I think we're going to see an incredibly fast burn down on the last of that. Up next, Comcast & Amazon? Francisco

    2015 New Years Resolutions?

"Aldryic doesn't get drunk, he just gets more Russian". For me, it's to lose weight and actually try to have a social life. The weight part isn't hard, I have really bad eating habits. Lots of pop, candy, junk food, etc. I go for a good amount of walks (twice a day for 2KM - 5KM) so I'd burn...

    BuyVM.NET / BuyShared.NET - Shared - $5/year | Resellers - $2.00/month! Dedicated IPv4! SSD RAID!

We're just figuring out how we want to do cpRemote. Originally we were storing the backups over the network but that turned into a bit of a struggle since they stored to the same server as VPS backups. Our current plan is to have local RAID 10 spinning rust in each node for cpremote. Shared02...

Colocrossing Buffalo now offering 100Gbps DDoS Protection

Not sure why GVH would be getting the 43.x IP's when they aren't an APNIC provider. Plaza was paying for that space up until recently I think, but since they're closing they either got a partial refund from APNIC or whatever, hence whey they're in the unallocated pool i'm thinking. When we were...

Colocrossing Buffalo now offering 100Gbps DDoS Protection

Vox is $2500/month for a BGP GRE tunnel with a small commit on clean. Their filtering isn't 'always on' so there's always a small window where bleeds happen before scrubbing occurs. Once a test IP is had you can just pull a BGP route on lg.he.net and see who's filtering it. Francisco

Digital Ocean gets $50 Million Credit Line

Far as I know they have been doing smaller amounts but they still do fat offers during holidays and things like that. When they got that $30M injection earlier in the year they kicked out $50 credits to everyone, even current account holders I think? Francisco

    Managed cPanel VPS

cPanel's pretty decent on RAM these days, a 1GB VPS will handle pretty well with some tuning, assuming you aren't getting mountains of traffic. Our plans are more or less managed at this point, we just haven't done an official change yet. You'd be looking at plan + $12/month for the cPanel...

[PAID] Need a minecraft/gameserver hosting design

Hello everyone! For those that don't know, we recently purchased a gameserver brand that specializes in Minecraft - http://minerack.org/ The design came in the deal (couldn't opt out of it either >_>) and much like the BuyVM site, it's terrible and really needs a face lift. My usual go-to...

Digital Ocean gets $50 Million Credit Line

Said it once, i'll say it again. DO's business model is to be bought out by a big player for something in the $X billion range. If they have to invest $100M to get to that point? Then that's still leaving the potential for a good return on it. I still figure within 2 years DO will sell. I'm...

Anycast IP addresses & IP failover now available at BuyVM!

I need some feedback from everyone doing anycast on OpenVZ :) Currently we're trying to make both venet0 & ha0 work together at the same time. Originally in our test beds this worked perfectly but I guess I didn't think about testing tons of different IP addresses all at once. This is proving...

Anycast IP addresses & IP failover now available at BuyVM!

You do otherwise you'll get dead zones. Having double up zones would get really messy and require an excessive amount of logic checks & wasteful IP usage. Francisco

Anycast IP addresses & IP failover now available at BuyVM!

This is a soft launch so the few things like that can be worked out :D Put in a ticket about it and I'll fix it in a few hours once I get a bit more rest. I already noted an issue with OpenVZ that I've already got ready for Aldryic to fix up. 198.251.86.1 Francisco

Anycast IP addresses & IP failover now available at BuyVM!

Hello everyone, After much work, Anycast IP addresses & failover IP addresses are operational! Customers with service in all 3 of our locations can assign themselves anycast IP addresses and then enable them to be bound on each virtual server! We've also brought failover IP support, making it...

SolusVM and secure passwords still do not work?

It was possible for a good while. The wide spread exploit that was sued was them passing $_GET['id'] or something like that right to a SETUID binary on the master. Francisco

SolusVM and secure passwords still do not work?

Incorrect my good sir. The problem is that on the SolusVM panel side, they actually pass the users root password to CLI via something like the comm.php file takes into consideration if the VPS is hosted locally (master + users OpenVZ) or remotely. From there it either calls a SETUID root binary...

BuyVM announces Europe, Anycast IP's, Floating IP's, & Bandwidth pooling!

You'll have to do your own firewalls for now. Over time we'll likely get a managed firewall option in place globally. Francisco
