    Company ASNs

Routing policies from NSP-grade providers are usually reliant on AS-sets instead of singular ASNs -- so to say they can have as many as they want. As to why this is done, it's mainly to individualize a certain set of services from others -- or acquisitions; depends entirely on the situations of...

    Incero Review - AVOID

Completely useless, WHT-style replies are probably not going to fly very well here. Most members try to actively avoid them, and I believe that was half the reason the board was even created. Just my 2c.

    Difficulties of a /64

On properly vLaned networks (which is the way your networks SHOULD BE setup, this is 2014), you'll have to perform an addition every time a customer signs up. The easy way around this is just assigning /48s to nodes instead, and then further delegating from that -- which is what most people who...

Test Services / Help with cgroups / KVM abusability?

There's nothing at all stopping you from building the bleeding edge kernel and qemu for CentOS, if you really wanted to -- useless argument. That said, I hate the RHEL family of OSes with a passion -- and would recommend Debian with own maintained kernel for the job instead. If you must use...

DigitalOcean to add Singapore Region by the end of January

Correct, not on the rr -- but there's enough private peering relationships with anyone worth peering with in HK. You'd be hard pressed to find tier one carriers who peer on the rr in Asia. Why would they? This is APAC, and by denying you peering -- they force you to purchase transit. This is...

DigitalOcean to add Singapore Region by the end of January

China is and has always been 'special,' I personally believe it's a dumb idea to optimize for CT/CU when they themselves cannot be bothered to give a hoot about you unless you buy direct bandwidth into CN.

    Proxmox

Depends on what features you'd want. If I wanted to sell VMs off ESXi, I'd want vCenter management along with DRS/HA/VCB features, none of which are free.

    Proxmox

    > In other drawbacks, it can't do NAT (without you setting up a openvswitch / opencontrail / vyatta / quagga routing vm), and it won't do any software raid. It's also closed-source software, if you happen to be an open-sores fanatic. This was said about ESXi, not Proxmox, actually. Apologies if...

ESXi if you need to be complaint to a boatload pointless certifications. It's also closed-source software, if you happen to be an open-sores...

    NON-CC GVH

Owing to the recent incidents (about alleged compromises), and the fact that Yahoo hasn't been on par with other large email service providers for years now -- you should probably seek another provider to host your mail. They're also impossible to work with from a mail-server administrator's...

DigitalOcean to add Singapore Region by the end of January

HKIX isn't really needed, they added a NTT pipe -- and NTT is very present at the HKIX. At this stage, some eqix peering and maybe some local peering (private) will be all they should need to be better than 99% of the western companies attempting to run 'networks' here.

@Alec Apologies, get rid of is indeed the incorrect term. :)

Ionity Transfers KC Customers to Batts

@Alec's been trying to get rid of KC for a long time in order to focus on the DFW side of things for a long time, so this doesn't really come as a surprise. Best of luck :) Edit: Anyone notice that his User ID is 666? lol.

GreenValueHost outsources customer support to India.

bgp.he.net is anything but an actual representation of what's going on anyway. It gives you a basic idea, but that graph should be treated with extreme skepticism.
