I typically use Debian for my VPSes.  I did have Gentoo on one for awhile.. but ended up moving it to Deb as well (I prefer being able to update/patch/issue commands/etc to all of my stuff at once).  I do use Gentoo on a couple of home machines - originally tried it out for the 'challenge'...

Aye.  Blizzard almost had my respect for using BitTorrent to push out software updates... but let's be honest.  They were all on board for reducing their own bandwidth/hosting costs, not to help legitimize the protocol  :D

You should ask the provider directly.  Some prohibit torrenting due to improperly configured clients/seedboxes abusing IO and Network.  Some prohibit due to legal reasons.  Some prohibit for moral reasons.

699$ for.. that'd be what, a 20A?  Either someone's trying very hard to recover a tarnished reputation, or someone's very strapped for cash and having trouble paying their bills and needs some quick income.  Given the typical "Lol there's nothing wrong about what we do" attitude... I doubt it's...

Assuming you want the simplest solution - for a Debian-based OS, simply run the following: apt-get install locate && updatedb locate example.txt The above to be run as root, of course (or via sudo).  updatedb isn't autonomous - it'll run whenever called manually, or the VM is rebooted.  So if...

I doubt the booters/master themselves are being hosted there... but it would not surprise me at all if many of the filtering providers knowingly/willingly provided service to the kids running the booters.  After all, it would give them a bit of immunity from that particular skid... 

Or ask any of the clients using our filtering that required ACLs from before we ditched Awknet and started using CNS.  Justin's punishing lack of urgency caused a great deal of headache for Anthony and I.

Not everyone tries to fit the "low end" niche.  Some folks, such as Nick there, provide quality service and just happen to have a few pricing points that are considered "low end".. which I feel diminishes the value of the product.  Cramming 80+ 2G VMs on a single node is low end.. the providers...

Looks like an Indonesian kid just resetting his DSL modem to get a new IP.  We have 8 active clients (confirmed ID) on that range - looks like you might just have to keep an eye out for that guy.
