Crissic has been acquired by Quadranet

As somebody with 2 Crissic VPSs (check out the awesome performance reports here: http://status.jgz.pw/) I haven't heard anything about this sale. Hopefully with QuadraNet at the helm I don't have to do the "overloaded node shuffle" (at least the disk write speeds for my LA VPS with them is in...

    IPv6 formatting help needed

@telephone I don't know why that never occurred to me. Thanks! :)

    IPv6 formatting help needed

I probably didn't explain myself well enough in my first post. I've been rather sleep deprived the past few weeks while I'm in transition of moving (today was the first day I've actually been able to get on vpsBoard and post while I crash at my parent's house). What I need to do is get the IP...

    IPv6 formatting help needed

Thanks but I don't think that will help me. I think I've figured out a solution, I'm going to have PHP look for :0: and replace it with :: instead. That's probably the easiest way to validate things on my end.

    IPv6 formatting help needed

A client pointed out today that he couldn't set his rDNS record and it turns out it's because of the IPv6 formatting PHP does. For this thread here's the example IPv6 address I'm using: 1111:0001:0000:0003:0004:0005:0006:0007 Part A of my question is are both of these formats considered valid...

Summer just started... Cortex Networks scam

If he gets enough people to "invest" a few hundred dollars he won't need clients. :)

Summer just started... Cortex Networks scam

$150 barely registers an LLC in most states here in the US. How much does it cost to register one in Australia?

    FraudRecord outage

100% of attacks against FraudRecord have been from TOR exits. I will update the firewall rules shortly with the latest list of exits.

Backups Marketed but not Upheld, who's the fault for the lack of backup? Provider vs Customer

Relying on a provider for backups is the worst thing anybody can do. Period. There is no guarantee the backups will be what you need when you need it. Most providers keep backups for hardware failure and that's it. I would say at least 50% of the restores I do for clients are just restores of...

Windows 10 Free Upgrade Available in 190 Countries Today

Now if only Microsoft would be willing to remove their blacklist of virtual display drivers from everything not HyperV I'll be happy. :)

How to diagnose issues with WHMCS not marking invoices as paid after payment?

Login to Paypal and check the IPN logs there to see if Paypal thinks it's working. Are these 2 clients using a Paypal subscription? If you've ever changed the URL to your Paypal IPN callback file then you'll need to setup a redirect because Paypal subscriptions don't update the IPN unless you...

Widespread misunderstanding of cloud from the people who claim that there is a widespread misunderst

People who complain about the usage of the word "cloud" are just scared of the cloud and those of us who aren't bothered by words.

One VPS with multiple webservers powering different sites?

Yup, I have the same setup on a VPS of mine (Apache port 80, Lighttpd port 8080, and Nginx port 8008).

Windows Solution for Linux Die Hard Summer 2015 Edition

Why does it have to run locally? Why not pick up a Xen/KVM/VMware VPS with Windows on it and just RDP to it? The only things it's not good for is video playback, gaming, and streaming content. I have 3 Windows jump boxes (2x Windows 7, 1x Server 2008 R2) in different states and they all work as...

Little Happy Cloud - new service from LES

If we want to get technical, wouldn't setting up 2 KVM VPSs in geographically different locations to server the same content be considered a "cloud" in the most common sense of the word? LHC is essentially giving you the building blocks for a "happy little cloud" of your own. And for ~$6/year I...

Little Happy Cloud - new service from LES

But AFreeCloud is hosted on a service with cloud in the name so it's descriptively correct. ;)

Little Happy Cloud - new service from LES

I guess that says a lot about @AnthonySmith's service when the only thing people can complain about is the name. :) Full disclosure: we don't really use dragons to secure our servers at Secure Dragon. ;)
