    KernelCare

We've lost more money due to cancellations because of emergency reboots than KernelCare costs so that's something to keep in mind also.

    Nodewatch Settings

I can attest that nodewatch has never been an issue resource wise and we have a in-house script that monitors and reports resource usage along with process names and never once has nodewatch's processes been at the top of the list except for on an idle server.

    Anti Spam Protection

nodewatch gets my vote. It's been solid and stable for us and the developers are quick to respond to e-mails. I wish it had some specific features, but I can live with the way it is now. :)

What is your favourite RAID level?

I vote for the RAID wasp foam stuff, if you spray it on spiders they basically just melt right when it comes in contact (I'm not sick in the head, I just really really really dislike spiders, not to mention my daughter and I have never been stung by a wasp/hornet/bee so I don't know if we're...

The 2016 (USA) Presidential Election Thread

At least they let us know up front our votes don't count, but you get a sticker if you take the time to vote in an election where your votes are counted but don't mean much. Electoral College FTW!

    History of 4.2.2.2

OpenDNS is the only DNS servers my daughter will know because of their free filtering. :)

    KernelCare

We're running it on our KVM nodes without any issues, we're just using the native CentOS kernels. Why would you think it wouldn't run on Xen or KVM nodes?

    KernelCare

KernelCare runs on basically any of the major Linux distros, here's the kernels it supports: CentOS, RHEL, CloudLinux, OpenVZ, Debian, Ubuntu, Virtuozzo, and PCS. I'm running it on my Quadranet InfraCloud VPS (which is KVM to my knowledge) without any issues.

    History of 4.2.2.2

Now that Cisco owns OpenDNS and will be integrating it into it's infrastructure I might give them a shot.

Critical Vulnerability in RDP Could Allow Remote Code Execution

Bah! Of course, Microsoft has two different KBs to cover the same exploit.  It looks like KB3067904 and KB3069762 are the same thing, hense why I can't find a patch for KB3067904.

Critical Vulnerability in RDP Could Allow Remote Code Execution

Damn, I hope they push an update soon (I checked all of my VMs and home PCs about an hour ago and I didn't see anything for this KB).

    Flash Finally Dead? Blame HackingTeam.

I wish Microsoft's Silverlight was available on Linux, in terms of streaming content it is leaps and bounds better.

What's your favorite device for browsing forums?

My Windows 7 VPS, doesn't matter what device I'm using it's always on the same thread I left off on. :)

    Flash Finally Dead? Blame HackingTeam.

Thank god. I hate Flash so much and have it blocked on every browser I use.

Critical Vulnerability in RDP Could Allow Remote Code Execution

I just logged into all of my VMs looking for an update and then realized it only affects 32bit versions. :)

I read that a while back and stopped using 4.2.2.2 after that.

    KernelCare

@MartinD that definitely changed this year. The most recent critical exploits with OpenVZ were patched by KC over a week before the patched OpenVZ kernel was moved to stable. It's worth it if you like you clients. Faster patching and no downtime, what's not to love. I highly recommend...

Who was your first VPS provider?

My first was HostV (VPS side of Cirtex) in December of 2007. They were bought by A Small Orange/HostNine a few years back.
