    I'm famous

Tried loading the link on my Chromebook - doesn't work because of course Silverlight doesn't run on Chrome OS. The IE team recently did a AMA on Reddit, where they were bragging about how much more up to standards IE 11 is. But then Microsoft insists on using non-standard junk like Silverlight...

    BlueVM's domain name was hijacked

So WHOIS says the domain is with "eNom" - I figured that probably meant Namecheap. I used the Namecheap forgot password link and fed in the domain "BlueVM.com", and it says "Your account is locked. Please contact support." It seems Namecheap is likely looking in to things to try and get the...

    New look

Same here. As I recall, when the new theme became available and I switched, at first I didn't like it, but now I much prefer it. I like lighter themes over dark ones generally, so I'm happy with this theme.

When to sync DNS from API

Yeah, that's a good idea. Also have to implement a 5-10 second timeout, with a retry button available.

    WhoIS and domain information archive?

How 'bout that - you're right. Never noticed that before. Only seems to show two records, though, the oldest they have and the newest they have. Not all that useful.

    URPad DDoS Protected 1GB VPS

Just an update: if you read you'll likely know that I was unimpressed with their service. They seemed to be dodging the problem, which is a major turn-off for me with any company I deal with. I had another ticket open around the same time, it was a minor issue of an IP change, but it took...

When to sync DNS from API

Me again! As y'all know by now, I'm working on an integrated server/domain/DNS management system. For the DNS part, I am setting up integration with popular DNS APIs, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to sync DNS from the provider via the API. As I see it, there are three ways to handle...

    OpenVZ Tester (X2go Install Script)

Crap - DO isn't OpenVZ. Oh well, it did seem to install, so hope that info is useful to you.

    OpenVZ Tester (X2go Install Script)

Testing now on a 2GB DO droplet with Ubuntu 14.04 x64.

    EU "Trustee" service

Any VPSBoard members live in the EU? I'm looking for someone to put down as the contact for a domain with AFNIC. PM me if you can help.

    DigitalOcean New York City 3

Pros and cons to both. At the base level plan, DO provides more "bang for the buck"; on higher end plans it shifts towards RamNode. Really, though, the big advantage to DO is the hourly billing, allowing you to spin up a server quickly then destroy it whenever you want, and only be billed for...

    Places to Get SSL Certs?

I'd recommend SSLs.com. It is run by Namecheap, but the site is dedicated to SSL and has better prices than the ones listed on Namecheap. They also give multi-year and bulk discounts, which would be good since you're securing multiple sites. Here is the page for their cheapest certs, the Comodo...

    WhoIS and domain information archive?

I use who.is a lot and the only "history" I know of is essentially cached records, which are updated as soon as you visit the page if they are older than a day or two.

VPN over port 443 - only way I could get around my old college's network.

    DigitalOcean New York City 3

@DaringHost Since you mentioned that the location was possibly in NJ, I did a traceroute to a DO NYC3 box I spun up. Pretty standard, except for this IP: 154.54.12.146. It was the fourth to last hop over Cogent, but its rDNS was set to telecomitalia.sjc04.atlas.cogentco.com. "SJC" to me would...

Overkill if you ask me, but DO has launched a third NYC location. This one, at least, has IPv6. Blog post. Thoughts?

    Backup Network anyone?

Backup connection? Neighbor's wi-fi. We have good friends down the street, and they use a different ISP (yes, I'm in the US, I'm just lucky enough not to live in an area with only one option), so simultaneous outages is unlikely. I also have a FreedomPop and I can tether from my phone, but I've...

Thoughts on Provider -> Customer notification

Generally I would say don't open a ticket to them unless you know that you can help them. Thing is, then I'm worried you're snooping in to my stuff. Don't look at your user's VPS contents without permission or suspicion of abuse! I think where the action should come is on the cancellation page...

Epidrive - VPS in PHX, AZ - LIFETIME 50% OFF ALL PLANS - LTO - Take Advantage Now!

Figured the "AUR" bit was something like that, but the only thing I could think of with "LTO" was lease to own, which wouldn't make much sense on a VPS :)
