    Apache 2.4 Mess

Apache 2.4 has ruined two of my servers and undone hours of setup that I put in to them, and I have no idea how to fix it. The first server doesn't have working vhosts any more. I try a2ensite [filename of vhost conf in /etc/apache2/sites-available], and am told the site doesn't exist. The other...

After sending him all the details, I got this back (5 days later): The only part I understood for sure was the last sentence. Tempting but...no. [/sarcasm] Right where it belongs.

How to gauge the quality of a provider's network

I figured as much, but I'm still not clear on what they do represent. Does HE just make them up?

    That little project domain

I have three or four I can think of right off the bat. Two are in use with projects progressing slowly on them, two are offline, though I know what I want to do with them.

    BuyVM humor

Yeah, I've seen that before. Typical BuyVM style, gotta love it :) There's also "No one uses slackware anymore. Not even Bob."

Owning a .US domain = Getting spam?

I recently got a .us domain with Namecheap's 98 cent promo, and have gotten some spam about it. Gmail filters it effectively and it all gets deleted, no big deal. I get this with most new domains, don't even notice anymore.

Does it get more incriminating? Also, I see the site is restored, why is that?

Digital Ocean - New York City Location

I've sent $10 their way via PayPal and I have a credit card on file. No requests for verification yet, though I have had a total of three coupons applied to my account and create and destroy droplets a lot. I'm really curious what sort of behavior triggers that request. I certainly understand...

    [Split] MicoHosting Inquries

I received a PM from someone claiming to represent the company, and have responded with full details of the botched order. We'll see... It will take a lot to give me any confidence in Micohosting.

    RamNode in EU/NL

Yay! I will be so excited if it's NYC. Or L.A., either one. Ideally, you should do four corners (L.A., NYC, Seattle, Atlanta), then middle (Kansas City or Denver). With that spread, anyone looking for a blazin' fast VPS in the U.S. will know where to go.

[RamNode] 35% OFF FOR LIFE! SSD & SSD-Cached VPSs from $1.30/mo [SVZ NOW IN NL]

How did I not hear that you were getting ready to expand again? That's great, congrats! Gotta ask though, why are you only able to offer the SVZ plans in NL?

I just requested BEARFISH10 and was told it was "not valid". SSDTWTTR from their Twitter feed was honored though.

    What was your first computer?

First one I used was a Windows 95 machine, 2GB HDD, probably like 64MB memory, though that's just a guess. First computer that was mine was a Compaq Presario SR5050NX: 1GB RAM, 250GB HDD, Pentium D (2x 3.0GHz) running Windows Vista (which I actually didn't mind). I purchased it for $350...

When he was unresponsive with me, I thought that might be the case as well (well, at least that something had put him out of commission), until I saw tickets being actively deleted. But in that case it's very surprising that he would just sit by until you suspend his account.

    [Split] MicoHosting Inquries

First of all, it's Micohosting. Not Micro, Mico. Confusing yes, but that's how it is. Second, AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS! I purchased their $10/year plan and never got the VPS provisioned. Tickets I sent asking about it were deleted every time. I finally filed a PayPal dispute after two weeks...

How to gauge the quality of a provider's network

That's not a bad mix as-is. Though I'm not a huge fan of nLayer, it looks like you have a nice amount of HE and Level3, which is good. IPv6 is a bit heavy on HE, but then 80% of IPv6 traffic always goes through HE anyway, and they do have a nice network. With the Level3 there too, you're good to...

List of reliable sub 20$ per year providers

Also the graphs don't work, the test file link points to a server that is not accepting connections, and HTTPS is broken by links to insecure resources.
