This is very true.  All of the major attacks have been targeted towards third party software.  Personally, I would rather just code up something myself and stay out of WHMCS, but it doesn't look like that will be happening anytime soon. 

It is a great idea, but will it sell?  Most of cell phone buyers still have no idea what Ubuntu is.  I'd rather just buy a Galaxy S4 and install Ubuntu on it to be honest.  It is very cool though. The iPhone 5 unlocked is cheaper than that.

IPTables can become a mess if you don't know what you're doing.  I agree with the others, try managing it with a GUI like WebMin.
