Keep in mind that this thread and your actions are a reflection on your company (ShoveHost) even if you try to separate them it will still have an impact so I would tread carefully. Now if you were to give away free services you were hosting in your closet nobody would complain about that but...

Dacentec offers a 1/4 cabinet at $150/month (less than $16 per U) and it includes 100Mbps unmetered on a 1Gbps port (multi-homed) and 5Amps of power. A 1U Intel Atom uses less than 0.5Amps of power so you have more power than you have space. GoRACK offers 10U for $99/month and you can upgrade...

I know in my area and most of the larger areas around me our options are Comcast or CenturyLink and it's sad to say that CenturyLink has an even worse reputation than Comcast. For my apartment complex I am limited to Comcast only which is why I've been looking at 3G/4G providers like FreedomPop...

http://customer.comcast.com/help-and-support/internet/data-usage-what-are-the-different-plans-launching I should point out that this is not enforced (to my knowledge) as I've never had a single month where I used less than 300GB of bandwidth. http://n3rd.info/upl/comcast_usage082013.png...

Having been forced to use Comcast for 6 months against my will, I would say this is a BAD IDEA. Aside from Comcast's conflicting statements about bandwidth caps, their routing makes me cry sometimes and their use of throttling makes me down right angry (they throttle ALL encrypted traffic so if...

Taking a couple years off... College

Aldryic is correct. The limitations my degree has put on my ability to finance anything has greatly impacted my life and my future negatively. Even if I stay current with my loans, my debt to income ratio is bad enough so that I won't be able to buy another house and I'm not sure what it will be...

With all of the exploits lately I still have zero confidence in it.

My vote goes towards the "waste of time and money" belief. This is based on the fact that I don't have time to waste making sure my digital wallet doesn't get hacked and all of my money is wasted. I don't have anything against it personally, but I have no interest to ever use it since I have...

    SSH on restrictive networks

Check SlickDeals.net, they had a promo for $35 for the hardware + 3GB of data free for the first month, you just have to call them up before the first month was over to downgrade to the 500MB free plan. Keep in mind the 500MB free plan is limited to 4G only so check your area, the paid plans...

    SSH on restrictive networks

I have a VPS that I use mainly for connecting to other VPSs like this. It's a Windows 7 box using a custom RDP port with MTPuTTY running on it so it has about a dozen or so tabs at any time. It has the added benefit of always being online so if I lose power or need to go some place I can...

    SSH on restrictive networks

Get a FreedomPop WIFI single. Free 500MB of data per month at 4G speeds. Should be plenty for SSH.

    East Coast DDOS Filtering

I have nothing against HF actually. The owner is awesome and has been extremely helpful in the past even before I knew HF existed. They've been quick to remove our name when we ask if it's being used for something malicious and their ban against "stressers/booters" has been a god send, the...

    Volumedrive about to deadpool?

I say it's about 50/50 now. I don't trust VD or BurstNET after reading some of those posts. The fact that BurstNET was so quick to post information that a provider probably shouldn't be posting publicly already made them look suspicious. Once somebody from VD started posting it made BurstNET...

I was pricing out colocation in Portland and transit there is expensive. It's cheaper to colocate with CNServers than it is any place else in the area. If CNServers offered a non-DDOS protected network we'd probably have a VPS node on that and sell LEBs there.

    East Coast DDOS Filtering

Nope, skid problem. They were selling like hotcakes but they were going to the wrong people who in turn resulted in a lot of abuse reports, drama, and overall wasted time. It's worth noting that we at Secure Dragon don't collect a paycheck so if I have to spend 3 hours dealing with legal...

We used to sell LEBs in Portland but we stopped that quickly when we realized it was more headache than it was worth.
