If you're at Generation-Host - Backup your data NOW!

Ah Generation-Host, I remember a couple of years ago I did some technical work for a virtual airline that hosted with these jokers. They managed to lose data twice and generally the performance was dire; that being said, dropping off the face of the earth like that isn't the way to go.

After finishing up cleaning some IPs, I figured I could burn some time messing around with the Arduino tone library...so I present to you http://sdrv.ms/15NxP6v Circuit is simply a jumper wires from digital output 8 to the + side of the speaker via a 100ohm resistor. Code is...

    Electronics

Well my Arduino arrived today and I've started messing around with it. It's a single-board microcontroller. The Arduino has been programmed to fade the LED via PWM (Pulse width modulation); this is a very simple beginner project (some people have made sentry guns detecting friendlies etc)...

Great to see quite a few people with a passion for Electronics. That's why the Arduino platform is great, you can pick up an Arduino board for around £7 and add your own components. Programming is done in C or C++ and it's fairly quick to grasp

    Routing weirdness with Above.net IPv6

Bit of a bump however I've investigated this issue (I work for Cloud Shards, new owners of Versatile IT) and we've worked with Virtbiz + Above to get this sorted and we have been informed this has just been fixed.

NodeDeploy Closing US locations - lagging demand?!?!

WebNX are certainly strict when it comes to IPs, probably at least a substantial factor. But from what I've seen, NodeDeploy don't seem that big, maybe they expanded too much too soon? Either way it's unfortunate to see a contraction such as this.

Help me decide, I'm torn between 2 servers.

Ah good old CommercialMedia. I remember before the massive landrush (which I admit, I did cause by posting on LET which lead to the LEB offer etc) I could ring up and get directly to Jeff or Mike if I had any issues and tickets used to get answered within a few minutes. Shame they couldn't/can't...

Meet Don, a Half Eaten Pie and a vpsBoard moderator. Ask him stuff.

I know I'm not Don but I saw my Uncle eat balut in the Philippines a few years ago...it scarred my mind, I will never touch the stuff :p

Meet Martin, the other vpsBoard admin. Ask him stuff.

@MartinD,  Where did you learn to cook and how did you get so good at it? (In reference to the LowEndFood thread...we should have one here!)

Visit the Typing Test and try!   I should really think about changing my method, hmm.

    How do you type?

I'm not sure how to describe my typing. I use all the fingers on my left hand but only the index finger for typing characters on my right hand. I use my left thumb for hitting the space key and right pinky for pressing the enter key... Get's me about 84WPM, not the fastest but I'm happy with...

Any interest in 525GB KVM Storage?

@SkylarM, It just so happens that 525GB divides nicely with the available space of our server setup.

Any interest in 525GB KVM Storage?

@Pmadd, No additional restrictions will be put in place for these plans. There are no caveats as long as your usage falls in-line with our existing ToS. We have the exact same policy on our other storage plans which are working out great for our other customers.
